EVO Cat & Kitten Canned Cat Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I feed my cats a variety of canned foods, but I feel that Innova EVO is the best of the bunch. I'm impressed by its protein-heavy ingredient list and the way that my cats gulp it down. EVO has the highest protein count of any other commercial cat food. My guys have shiny coats, lots of energy and are at just the right weight.

Natural Balance Ultra Formula Cat Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My cat is a picky eater. I ordered this product because I was concerned about my cat's nutrition as she has recently started losing her hair. My vet recommended weaning her onto a healthy, high protein, wet cat food. I had been feeding her cheap dry food.
My cat absolutely LOVES this stuff! As soon as it arrived, I opened a can of it, just to see what it smelled like. THIS STUFF SMELLS FINE! I think that is smells BETTER than most cans of cat food that I have opened. It does NOT stink-up my house at all.
My cat does not usually eat a whole 6oz can of wet cat food in a day, but she will happily gobble up as much of this as I give her each day! I HIGHLY recommend this product to any one looking for a healthy food for their loved pet.

Natural Balance Duck and Green Pea Formula Cat Food (Pack of 24 6-Ounce Cans) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I feed the Natural Balance Green Pea & Duck wet and dry food to my cat ever since my friends and vet suggested I do an elimination diet. Granted, my cat will eat anything in a can, I'm glad that Natural Balance has made this limited ingredient food so my cat doesn't have to suffer from his allergies to chicken. It is difficult to find cat food without chicken since it is in everything and the novel protein in Natural Balance's Limited Ingredient Diet is awesome!
The dry Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diet however, does have an ingredient that the canned wet food doesn't have: fish oil. So if you're doing a super stringent elimination diet, just compare labels for both the dry and wet because the ingredients do differ (my cat does fine with both).
It has been several weeks now that my cat has been on the wet and dry NB food and his ear/face itching has almost completely disappeared! Just remember, talk to your vet about elimination diets if you think your cat may have allergies.

Orijen Adult Cat & Kitten Formula Dry Cat Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I have an older cat (5yrs old now) who was constantly getting crystals and urinary blockage. Expensive trips to the vet it was. 3 years ago I adopted 2 kittens. The vet said the kittens had to eat something other than what my older cat was (she was on prescription science diet-like that's not expensive). As all cat owners know, it's nearly impossible to separate them and eat their "own food". I did lots of reasearch and found Orijen. All three cats have been eating this food for 3 years. Guess what? No medical issues...At All! I've been so pleased with this food and how healthy and happy my cats are. I will never purchase anything else for my cats. You might think it may be a little expensive, but not having to take my cats to the vet is worth every penny saved.

Natural Balance Ultra Premium Formula Dry Cat Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)We are breeders of sphynx (hairless) cats. Prior to Natural Balance, the only way we could get our cats to eat dry food was to mix it with warm water and a half can of canned cat food, usually Iams or Friskies when money was low. Our local feed store recommended Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance as a healthy and tasty alternative. Our adult cats love it...no more "hunger strikes" holding out for canned food. Even our kittens started eating it at only 8 weeks, when mixed with a bit of warm water. Since there are no 'fillers', the cats are eating less to become full, which to me justifies the higher price.

Natural Balance Sweet Potato Venison Formula Dog Food (Pack of 12 13-Ounce Cans) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My dog, who is on a vension diet due to allergies, likes it better than the Science Diet I was buying at the vet, and the price is better ($4 vs. $2 per can). I think he's itching less as well, that may be because he's no longer getting into the cat's food that we try to keep inaccessible to him.

Natural Balance Organic Formula Dry Dog Food, 12.5-Pound Bag Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Bought this food locally in the smallest size - we have two chihuahuas and they are pretty picky eaters. They normally have a wet/dry combination of food but with this stuff they eat it dry no problem. We try to include as much organic into our diets as possible and it made sense to do the same with the dogs, plus this stuff is made in the USA (not in Canada which apparently has less strict regulations for dog food - which is where the Newman's own brand is made, I've been told.) One of the dogs has a pretty sensitive stomach so it's hard to find a food that we can consistently purchase that doesn't make her sick. The small size bites are perfect for our dogs, which is really nice too. Remember when introducing your dog to a new food, it's best to start combining it with their old food.

Evolve Maintenance Formula with Chicken Dry Cat Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I've tried a few high quality cat food products and this one is right up there with Innova/EVO brand, but even cheaper in price.
One of my cats has had urinary tract issues in the past. The Vet stated possible Struvite crystal problems which some lower quality foods, especially ones that use soy products, etc as protein fillers instead of animal protein(many variables in the low quality causes an offset of PH balance in their urine; Cat urine is generally more on the acidic side than alkaline) plus not enough water intake can cause urinary issues.
Besides some few and far between accidents in the past 6 months, this product has delivered. It seems to agree with my cat's needs and has stopped her UTI's.
My one complaint is how it tends to give my cats(I have two cats) almost diarrhea consistency excrement. It's not quite there, but definitely looser and sticky. Once in awhile it gets stuck in the hair, therefore making them drag their bums on the ground. It's not for lack of water consumption, as we do give them wet food also. They also have a great water thirst reflex(one even has a running water fetish!). However, we've had to cut back on that as with the combination of the wet food and this food, the stools get even more loose.
My educated guess is the high nutrients with their consumption doesn't get fully absorbed, or maybe the high fat content. I can't say for certain, but it does it to both of my cats.
In conclusion, with how healthy my cats are currently, I'm willing to put up with this minor irritation. I just stay nearby with a wet cloth and some spot shot in hand, *laughs*.

EVO Dog Food Large Bites 28.6 lbs Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This food looks and feels to be of good quality. Also highly rated by [...] ([...]) and they place it in their top tier, so I had confidence going into the purchase. It has really high quality ingredients such as turkey, chicken, turkey meal, chicken meal, potatoes, and herring meal, without fat in the first four ingredients, which apparently can lead to bloat. I've been feeding my 60 pound Weimaraner this food for about two months and the bag still isn't gone. My dog has been gaining weight over that time as well. We have fed her Timberwolf Organics and Go! Natural Grain Free Endurance Formula before this and those were great as well. With this food, we don't have to feed her as much, so this food is a very good value, cheaper overall than Timberwolf because of the reduced feeding. However with this food and unlike the others, her stools have been small, hard, and consistent, which is very nice for me.
I purchased from J-B Wholesale Pet Supplies which had very reasonable prices and shipping costs. I bought three bags and the shipping was the same, so my shipping costs were around $1.50 per bag. Two downsides were that shipping was slow and I didn't get a tracking number until I called J-B Wholesale.

Natural Balance Venison Green Pea Formula Cat Food (Pack of 24 6-Ounce Cans) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Our Himalayan cat is an extremely picky eater. To add to this she has intestinal trouble with many foods (diarrhea, vomiting). We only feed her quality foods with no grains or fillers, and this narrows our selection down quite a bit, knocking out most grocery store brands.
We initially tried Wellness and apparently it was too rich for her with all the additional unnecessary ingredients (squash, zucchini etc?) Then we tried the Natural Balance DUCK and pea, and she hated the taste and texture, which was extremely mushy. We then put her on this Venison flavor, and she absolutely loves it and the more meaty texture. She is enthusiastic every time she eats. She loves the dry as well.
I would highly recommend this food to anyone, especially those who have a cat with a sensitive digestive system. Not only is it a healthy grain free, artificial/dye free food, but it is also a limited ingredient food, meaning pets with food allergies or bowel problems are more likely to tolerate it. And it's very reasonably priced!

Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish Formula Dog Food, 28-Pound Bag Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My lab mix has a very sensitive tummy. He had recurrent bouts of diarrhea, vomiting and constant wretched gas. I had given him pedigree for awhile but realized that was no good for him. Then we tried science diet, but his gas seemed to get worse and his tummy would gurgle all day.
I read about this dog food and its natural ingredients. There's no corn meal or other fillers. He's been on this food for about 2 weeks now and his gas has disappeared! He has not had a single bout of diarrhea or vomiting. I'm impressed. Yes it's pricey and I normally wouldn't buy something so expensive, but it is well worth it for the health of my dog.
*Updated* to say that he has been on this food for a few months now and has continued to be free of tummy troubles and wretched gas. He hasn't vomited at all or had diarrhea. His coat has gotten so much shinier and he seems to be a much happier dog without all the tummy issues!

Fromm Four-Star Nutritionals Grain-Free Surf & Turf (Duck, Salmon, Chicken) Dry Dog Food, 12-pound bag Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My 2 Minature Schnauzers are 3yrs old and picky eaters. They were occassionaly spoiled by me adding chicken breast or turkey to their dry food. They eventually got bored of the Fromm Surf & Turf but for the first month loved to eat it. Yes, it's more expensive than the other dry foods but the ingredients used helped my prevent break-outs that one of my dogs were experiencing from allergies. I switched them to the Blue Buffalo Wilderness and it has higher protein and Omega fatty acids. The dogs enjoyed the change in food but it gave them both gas and one of them had diarrhea. I like the ingredients of the Blue Buffalo but according to my vet some owners are complaining about the same effects on their dogs because it's very rich. I'm remaining with the Fromm simply because of the quality and it's grain less so it helps my dog with allergies.

Natural Balance Potato and Duck Formula Dog Food, 30-Pound Bag Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This food was the best out there until Spring 2009, then they changed the formula. If you check the website, they admit they lost their access to the "quality" duck protein they were using. Easy way to tell was the food went from light brown to greenish. That, and after your dog eats the new formula, he will throw up and have diarrhea all over your house. I have two mutts, neither of which are picky eaters. Both of them chose to starve, rather than eat this food after the formula change. When combined with the fact that Natural Balance was part of that Chinese dog poisoning issue a few years back, I don't trust this company not to kill my dogs.
By the way, if you buy it from PetCo, you will never know, since this food is a good seller, and PetCo has been editing its reviews of the product to delete anything that puts people off the food. They should be ashamed of themselves, and I won't be getting food there, anymore.
Do yourself and your dogs a favor and avoid Natural Balance Ultra.
