I put my dog on this brand of food based upon a recommmendation from a family member with a similar breed of dog.Within a couple of weeks, there was a difference in smell and regrowth of lost hair on my dog!It sounds crazy, but the terrier mix of food really paid off for my dog. She has had skin problems for over 16 years.I recommend this brand to anyone that has a dog with skin issues.Great stuff!

(More customer reviews)After a terrible accident killed one of my two cats, I got very concerned about her surviving sister's well-being. Call it obsessive, but I started reading books on cat first aid and cat health and nutrition, and one day I was filling her food bowl and I happened to glance at the ingredients in her dry cat food. It was then that I realized that the dry food I was feeding her was JUNK! No nutritive value at all! (She was eating Meow Mix, because she seemed to like it, but not anymore.)
Cats don't need cornmeal or veggies or soy or "natural flavoring" (by the way, I found out that most pet products are "naturally flavored" with manure...that's right, MANURE). Cats don't need fish flavored cereal. They need high quality protein, plain and simple. And this is probably the best stuff I've ever found. No grains, no by-products, all natural, and my cat loves the stuff.
Before I started her on this food, she was sedentary and overweight, and she was throwing up a lot. I always thought it was hair balls, but really I think it was her diet. Since I switched her to this diet, she seems to have a lot more energy, she runs around and plays a lot more, she's lost weight, her coat has gotten shinier and silkier, her eyes have cleared up, and she never throws up anymore.
It's a lot more expensive than other kinds of dry cat food, but really, you wouldn't feed your kids junk food with no nutritive value just because it's cheaper, so why would you feed junk to your pets? I honestly think it's worth the price. It's a great product, and I think I'll be feeding it to my cats for many years to come.

I started looking for an all life stage food when I got a kitten to befriend my year old cat. Feeding two cats seperately (kitten and cat food) is just not going to work for me. I also had to ween my cat off Science Diet (aka crack cat food). Feed the best you can afford, and the best they will eat...easier said than done.
We tried Wellness, Solid Gold, Avoderm, etc. Some they hated totally, and some didn't seem so healthy. I learned alot about cat food. Just read the ingredients! Cats are carnivores, and corn should not be in the top five ingredients...or at all.
We have tried several flavors, and
They hate Duck (looks gross too!)
They will nibble Rabbit and Chicken
Lamb they gobble up : )
(P.S. They will eat the Prarie wet foods, but not very much. Also, I feed Innova's EVO dry food.)

(More customer reviews)I feed the Natural Balance Green Pea & Duck wet and dry food to my cat ever since my friends and vet suggested I do an elimination diet. Granted, my cat will eat anything in a can, I'm glad that Natural Balance has made this limited ingredient food so my cat doesn't have to suffer from his allergies to chicken. It is difficult to find cat food without chicken since it is in everything and the novel protein in Natural Balance's Limited Ingredient Diet is awesome!
The dry Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diet however, does have an ingredient that the canned wet food doesn't have: fish oil. So if you're doing a super stringent elimination diet, just compare labels for both the dry and wet because the ingredients do differ (my cat does fine with both).
It has been several weeks now that my cat has been on the wet and dry NB food and his ear/face itching has almost completely disappeared! Just remember, talk to your vet about elimination diets if you think your cat may have allergies.

(More customer reviews)We recently stocked a new kind of cat food formulated especially for healthy skin and coat. We brought one can home to try out on our three-cat focus group.
First impression by the human is that it's really a disgusting looking food. Lumps of seafood and peeled whole shrimp, in a "fragrant" gravy.
It is, however, highly palatable to kitty kind. The fragrance is an added bonus for older cats since they often start to lose their sense of smell after a certain age. So a strong smell makes the food extremely appealing.
We split the can amongst our three cats, and the vote was unanimous. All three ate the entire treat bowl, not just the gravy, but the meat as well.
So while it's not exactly appetizing to humans, cats really love it.
Ingredients:

Newman's Own Organics Adult Variety Pack Canned Cat Food Review

(More customer reviews)First off, I have very little doubt that Newman's Own wet cat food is an excellent and healthy choice to feed one's cat. Feeding a cat a quality food, even if expensive compared to other catfoods, is worthwhile and if it prevents one health problem might even pay for itself. For those reasons, and because I support Newman's ideals in general, my cat has had the pleasure of enjoying many cans of Newman's food.
However, in comparison to other cat foods in this price range, my cat does have a couple of complaints. I should mention that my cat LOVES to eat, it is his primary motivation in life. Need him to take a pill? Just coat it in wet food and drop it in his dish. But, because he likes to eat so much, he must also have controlled portions - 1/3 can, twice a day. And that leads to his first complaint. Open a can of Newman's, and there is a lot of empty space, around the food and even large open cracks in the food. There certainly isn't the volume of solid food in a 5.5 oz can of Newman's compared to the competition. The second complaint: Newman seems to love his brown rice, which is ok, but he keeps the grains big and whole. My cat loves food, and cleans his dish every time... but he usually eats right around those big grains of rice.
Basically, my cat isn't getting as much food from a can of Newman's as from his favorite brands (Nature's Logic and Innova EVO), so we'll be cutting Newman out of the rotation.

Aside from nature being nature--rabbits are prey for many animals--we have reasons for giving our cat rabbit. He, like many pets, has terrible food allergies and will scratch raw, bleeding bald spots on his face and neck if we feed him the wrong food. Rabbit is one of very few meats that he can eat without having this problem, and that is why it is found in cat food. It is more hypo-allergenic for kitties with these problems, along with a grain-free diet. We have found Instinct to be the only thing that works for our poor suffering kitty to keep him healthy.

Orijen Adult Cat & Kitten Formula Dry Cat Food Review

(More customer reviews)I have an older cat (5yrs old now) who was constantly getting crystals and urinary blockage. Expensive trips to the vet it was. 3 years ago I adopted 2 kittens. The vet said the kittens had to eat something other than what my older cat was (she was on prescription science diet-like that's not expensive). As all cat owners know, it's nearly impossible to separate them and eat their "own food". I did lots of reasearch and found Orijen. All three cats have been eating this food for 3 years. Guess what? No medical issues...At All! I've been so pleased with this food and how healthy and happy my cats are. I will never purchase anything else for my cats. You might think it may be a little expensive, but not having to take my cats to the vet is worth every penny saved.

(More customer reviews)I started my cat on Felidae Platinum about 3 weeks ago and she loves it. She's an older cat, somewhat overweight, and had a grouchy temperament. I first mixed it with her previous food and she figured out which was which -- she ate the Felidae and left the old food! She's now been on just the Felidae for about ten days now, off the old food entirely, and she is a much sweeter, happier cat. I think it must agree with her better or be more easily digested, or something. In any case, I am a happy purchaser of Felidae. I don't agree with the previous reviewer that cats don't like it. Clearly, mine does.

(More customer reviews)I wanted to point out that these treats are different from the dog Greenies. Dog Greenies are chewy, cat Greenies are crunchy, like dry cat food. Because of this I don't know if they actually work (if they're the same texture what makes them different from cat food?) but I don't think they're dangerous, as a previous reviewer said. Canine Greenies have caused health problems, but from what I understand it is because the dog didn't chew it well (like most dogs) and because of the softer texture it swelled in the dogs stomach.
My cats love the salmon flavor, the package recommends six pieces three times a day, not to exceed 18 pieces a day. I give my cats about six a day, all at once. They don't always chew them though, which is the only problem I've had with the product, swallowing them whole doesn't bother my cats at all though. I have one cat, Garfield, who is very picky, but he loves these treats. So I think its probably safe to say that these shouldn't cause health problems like the canine Greenies can and also that your cat will really like them!
