(More customer reviews)After a terrible accident killed one of my two cats, I got very concerned about her surviving sister's well-being. Call it obsessive, but I started reading books on cat first aid and cat health and nutrition, and one day I was filling her food bowl and I happened to glance at the ingredients in her dry cat food. It was then that I realized that the dry food I was feeding her was JUNK! No nutritive value at all! (She was eating Meow Mix, because she seemed to like it, but not anymore.)
Cats don't need cornmeal or veggies or soy or "natural flavoring" (by the way, I found out that most pet products are "naturally flavored" with manure...that's right, MANURE). Cats don't need fish flavored cereal. They need high quality protein, plain and simple. And this is probably the best stuff I've ever found. No grains, no by-products, all natural, and my cat loves the stuff.
Before I started her on this food, she was sedentary and overweight, and she was throwing up a lot. I always thought it was hair balls, but really I think it was her diet. Since I switched her to this diet, she seems to have a lot more energy, she runs around and plays a lot more, she's lost weight, her coat has gotten shinier and silkier, her eyes have cleared up, and she never throws up anymore.
It's a lot more expensive than other kinds of dry cat food, but really, you wouldn't feed your kids junk food with no nutritive value just because it's cheaper, so why would you feed junk to your pets? I honestly think it's worth the price. It's a great product, and I think I'll be feeding it to my cats for many years to come.

(More customer reviews)This is the real deal. Possibly the most costly non-prescription cat food available, it is nonetheless a bargain. Until trying this, the only food my cat could tolerate was prescription Iams Low Residue. With any other food he would vomit every day and have frequent bouts of diarrhea. Even with the Iams, the poor little guy would have the diarrhea every few days. Then I tried Organix. I went through two 6 lb bags and never had a single incident of illness. It is absolutely unbelievable. Of course when you read the label you can see why it's so different. I will never feed my cat anything else. Truly amazing.

I had him on best quality, expensive food, recommended by the dog people I know, and despite experimentation with various combinations and additives, his stools remained loose and I wasted a lot of food because he would only pick at it.
I bought a sample package of Wholemeal just to try it for something different, and he loved it! Not only does he inhale them, but there is no wastage, and he hasn't had a loose stool since we changed over to Wholemeal. Best of all, it's really easy to pack his food to go visiting or for a stay at the kennel.
My only complaint is that they are not available at a pet store near us, and shipping costs an arm and a leg.

The new formula has more meat in it and my puppy loves the new formula! He jumped on it! It's unfortunate that Canidae didn't announce that they were going to change the formula because it's making a lot of dogs sick due to the sudden change in food.

(More customer reviews)I searched for a food that wasn't full of preservatives and fillers, and didn't cost $5 a pound. I did alot of research and read alot of labels. I have a Siberian Husky pup, and Canidae has really proven itself to me. As a former conissour of cheap discount store dog foods, I have finally realized the advantages of feeding a natural premium food. My dogs poop doesnt really stink! True! Poop is still poop, but the smell is minimal. I have noticed it also quickly disinigrates into the ground when it rains. With the cheap food, it smelled like rank dog poop! Would make you retch and gag! And there was so much of it! Less poop, firmer stools with barely any odor, less food consumed per day. AND NO BAD BREATH from your dog! A food that swells up when wet is also undesirable. Flint River Ranch brand and Canidae both stay intact, avoiding the bloat factor. I learned, you can learn too! She told me that because German Shepards have sensitive stomachs and also prone to hip problems is why this product is so beneficial to their dogs. Ever since a puppy my dogs been on Canidae. I have tried others when I couldn't find Canadie, like now and noticed a differance in various ways. I am happy to see I can now buy the product online to get my dog back on tract.

I was well aware of the changes that were occuring with the food because my local retailer took the time to hand out the information sent out by Canidae. I switched my dog cold turkey to the Chicken and Rice formula and had NO PROBLEMS (No diarrhea no vomitting no loose stools)...in fact if anything my dog is more excited at feeding time.
