He has had a variety of health problems and overtaxed immune system as a pup. He has always had a low threshold for developing loose stools. The only food I have found that prevents his issues is Canine Caviar. I have tried every other high quality premium food, without the same results. I am now committed to driving across town for this food, as nothing compares (I discovered C.C. from a French Bulldog owner who also had great results calming their issues).
Just wish more stores carried it.

(More customer reviews)Acana is manufactured by a canadian company that is also a maker or orijen, but its designated for dogs who dont do well on high protein, which was a case with my dog, hes moderately active 3 year old weim, but was putting on weight on orijen, so this was a great addition to his diet. He loves the taste just the same and I've had no issues with it, glossy coat, lots of energy, no ear or eye infections. Plus I like that fact thats they use free range chickens which appeals to my ethical side, since I only buy organic and free range myself.

(More customer reviews)I was feeding cooked chicken and rice to one of my dogs who would not eat and was very skinny. I tried this food and it was the answer to all my feeding problems. MY dog eats it every time right away. She was put on 8 pounds and my vet is very pleased. After seeing the results with this dog I have put all my dogs on Deli Fresh. There coats look good and they eat this food in just a minute or two. It was turned my problems of getting four dogs to eat into a pleasure.

(More customer reviews)We like the pop-top lid on the canned foods eliminating the can opener wrestling match and test of dexterity. Opening the can of Artemis, one sees a solid dog food, light in color with bits of foods like carrots, peas, and potatoes readily visible.
Our three pooches like Artemis and their parents do also. The ingredient list is commendable with no fillers and none of those horrendous animal scraps found in cheaper dog foods. Mostly I like seeing the inclusion of potatoes in the mix. We like the density of the canned food; those runny canned products with high liquid content tend to dirty and stain the canine whiskers and beard. One user of Artemis commented that her dog had much less gas and fewer stools. I'll have to monitor our girls more closely to see if this is the case with them. I do notice a welcome firmness in Evie's stools though. If you're looking to try a premium pet food, give Artemis a try.

(More customer reviews)My golden retriever puppy had weeks of stomach problems and lots of expensive and unsuccessful testing to try to determine the problem. My puppy trainer suggested I try this grain free food. I did and his problems cleared right up. It is expensive but has all natural and healthy ingredients and should actually reduce vet bills in the long run since he is such a healthy dog now. I plan to start feeding my cat Fromm food now too. She likes the smell of the salmon in the dog's food so I'll try the salmon cat food soon. This company makes quality food for pets and produces it here in the United States.

The new formula has more meat in it and my puppy loves the new formula! He jumped on it! It's unfortunate that Canidae didn't announce that they were going to change the formula because it's making a lot of dogs sick due to the sudden change in food.

(More customer reviews)Why the Grain Free variety? My younger sheltie has epilepsy. Gluten and corn are possible seizure triggers, so I feed both my shelties a wheat, corn, & gluten free diet. Canidae is only part of that diet; I feed them 4 small meals a day - 1/4 cup Canidae Grain Free ALS, then a 4" piece of raw turkey neck, then veggies for the last two meals. The last meal is sometimes another 1/4 cup of Canidae instead of veggies. I know, it's complicated, right? But my dogs really do better on a mostly raw diet like this. I still use kibble because it's the fastest way to feed them a meal first thing in the morning before I let them out to go potty.
I've fed a variety of kibbles from the natural pet food shops, some with grain and others grain free, and when I fed them an all-kibble diet (Canidae or other brands) my younger sheltie had TERRIBLE gas, while my older sheltie had anal gland problems where she'd have an anal sac blowout at least once a month. So gross, but that's why we covered our couches in blankets that were easily washed. (Gosh I hope you're not eating lunch while you read this review.) Anyway, I started giving them more raw food and the gas has disappeared and my girl sheltie no longer has anal gland issues. Their teeth are cleaner too.
I didn't want this to turn into a "raw food is the only way to go" preaching session, I swear! But for my dogs, raw is better - it's easier for my younger sheltie to digest so he doesn't gas us out of our home, and it gives my older sheltie firmer poo so her anal glands work like they're supposed to. Canidae doesn't help my dogs' particular issues like raw does.
However, Canidae is a heck of a lot easier and cheaper to feed, and my furry kids certainly do love Canidae's taste, they inhale it. If your dog doesn't have weird kibble digestion issues like mine do, then Canidae Grain Free ALS is a 5 star dog food. For my dogs' sensitive systems, it's a 4-star food.
The Canidae Grain-Free All Life Stages has a 34% protein level, which seems to do better with my shetland sheepdogs' stomachs than the higher protein kibbles. I've fed another brand of grain-free kibble (Innova EVO turkey & chicken) that had 42% protein which was too high for them to handle even when switching to it gradually and only getting a 1/4 cup a day... 42% protein made their poo liquid. So, I've stuck with Canidae's grain free ALS.
I've also done a 50/50 mix with the Grain Free ALS and the Grain Free Salmon, the furry kids love it. The Salmon variety smells like FISH, big surprise, right? I try not to breathe when dishing it out, don't care for the smell of fish like the pups do.
As I write this, Amazon's price is the same as my local natural pet store. As much as I'd like to support local business, my local natural pet store is terrible (it's a long story), so I buy Canidae here on Amazon.

I was surprised when the store started carrying this dog food as we have no affiliation to it. I was currently using Iams which at the time was going thru tainted ingredient issues. So I did some investigative work on some dog food review/rating websites and was pleasantly surprised by the positive reviews for this product.
