(More customer reviews)I have two Giant Schnauzers. When I rescued my first Giant Schnauzer over 5 years ago, I researched dog foods. I knew I was NOT going to be feeding a raw diet and preferred a dry food. After researching I went with Eukanuba Large Breed Adult Dog food. My dogs love it! My 2 dogs are muscled up, work well, are healthy, have shiny coats and plenty of energy. I don't supplement their food. The vet always comments on how healthy my dogs are. I highly recommend this dog food for anyone, especially a large breed owner. I haven't ordered the food through Amazon simply because I pass a Petco on a regular basis. Now, if Amazon would offer this on a subscribe and save plan... I'd probably order through Amazon, since it's something I need on a regular basis. I took one star off since I can't subscribe to get the dog food, very inconvenient.

The ingredients look reasonable, the price is much better then most of the high end brands (with comparable ingredients, i might add :)), and the eat it all up right away factor is very high! Based upon these observations, I highly recommend that you give this brand a try!

(More customer reviews)Acana is manufactured by a canadian company that is also a maker or orijen, but its designated for dogs who dont do well on high protein, which was a case with my dog, hes moderately active 3 year old weim, but was putting on weight on orijen, so this was a great addition to his diet. He loves the taste just the same and I've had no issues with it, glossy coat, lots of energy, no ear or eye infections. Plus I like that fact thats they use free range chickens which appeals to my ethical side, since I only buy organic and free range myself.

His coat is great, he is the ideal weight (labs tend to get chunky if you're not careful), and his stools are solid. Yes, Innova is expensive, but quality food should decrease all the potential health problems (and that's where it gets really expensive) down the road.

I found this food a couple months ago, its about 12-15 bucks cheaper than Wellness Core and just as good. No grains in either food, no by-products. all natural healthy ingredients. I am feeding my 2 boxers a mix of Before Grain #3(buffalo) and #1(chicken). My dogs love both. They are healthy and happy. Even my soon to be 11yr old girl. That initiative will give them the gift of a longer, healthier life, eliminate many chronic health issues that pets face, save you money in vet bills in the long run... the list of benefits goes on and on.
I have done extensive research on canine and feline nutrition and I highly recommend, if you are going to feed commercial food, Welless, California Naturals or Innova. For a great complete meal, I give my dogs all one of those dry foods mixed with a little bit of canned from the same brands, water for hydration, a touch of a good quality essential oil (such as olive, flax, etc.), a touch of powdered kelp and alfalfa, a splash of organic apple cider vinegar, Prozyme digestive enzymes to unlock the nutrients in all that good food and top with a dollop of plain yogurt. It sounds like a lot, but it takes me less than 5 minutes to assemble the meals for 6 dogs - and they are ridiculously healthy an full of energy, even our 3 seniors who are 11, 12 and 13. I have two seniors with heart murmurs and at our most recent vet check, my dog with the worst heart murmur, a 12 year old beagle that I love desperately, had a 2-grade improvement in condition severity - that is HUGE. Good nutrition makes all the difference and, as an added bonus, I have yet to meet a dog that doesn't like it! My only quibble with the senior formulation of this great food is that it is very dry - I really do recommend that you add at least a touch of a good oil and water to it to prevent dry skin - dogs get most of their hydration from food.

(More customer reviews)My boston terrier/english bulldog puppy's coat became shiny on this food, his breath smelled good, his gas wasn't stinky, and the food appears to have excellent ingredients. However, after over a month of eating Wellness, his stool never became firm (which it was on whatever cheap food he was eating at the breeders). It alternated between runny and mushy. I'd read similar reviews on various websites, but decided to try it anyway (everyone's experiences are different). Although I have no way of knowing this, I wonder if some of the fancier dogfoods overdo it with the flax and greentea---it would certainly give me the runs. Anyway, I think it's a good food and may work well for some dogs, but we've had to transition off of it to Merrick puppy plate, which, although it has similar ingredients, seems to be firming up the poop.

I have been feeding it to her and she has put on 1/2 a pound in the last 5 weeks on it (she is a chihuahua and was 1 1/2 lbs when I took her home and at the vet's office today she weighed a hefty 2 pounds). I love that the first ingredients are a good source of protein and that there is a mixture of fruits and veggies for her too. It's a little more expensive, but totally worth it.

No need to let your paying customers know. $400 worth of vet bills later, and a bout with pancreatitis (my dog of course), I realize it's this food that is causing the problems. They later confirmed in email that they did in fact change the ingredients; however, they did not confirm whether they would pay my vet bills.
Not to mention, they also changed their guidelines recommending this food NOT be fed to large breed puppies, whereas it was previously fine.
They tout themselves as some Natural, good for your dog, food, doubtful.
