California Natural Lamb Meal & Rice Dry Puppy Food Review

(More customer reviews)We have been using this dog food for around 3 months now. Our dogs coat has never been so shiny and her poop has never stayed so consistent. For months we tried over 5 different foods and all of them she would have issues with. I am sooo glad we tried this food and have found nothing better!

Innova Puppy Formula Dry Dog Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Natura makers of Innova, EVO, California Natural, HealthWise, and Karma have sold to Proctor and Gamble (maker of Iams/Eukanuba) which are know for their poor ingredients and animal cruelty. I have been feeding my cat Evo and they have done really well on this. However, after this sale we can expect the quality plummet and, of course, I don't want to support this company known for their animal cruelty. I will never buy this line again and urge everyone to do the same. I am so glad my pet store notified me of this. After the sale is final they plan to discontinue carrying this line ~ which tells you something.

(More customer reviews)I raise red toy poodles. My first one was a boy who will be six next month and is the pickiest eater EVER!! The first 4 years, we tried at least 50 different kinds and I could NOT keep the weight on his little bones. Since switching to Halo, he's gained 2 pounds and is super healthy!! I feed my pregnant momma's and our 3-week old puppies Halo and again, they are super healthy! I love that I can pronounce every ingredient in the list! When I feed the canned, I can actually see peas and carrots and meat! AMAZING!! even as a first food, puppy tummies digest it easily with no complications! I doubt I will ever feed anything else!

Diamond Naturals Dry Food for Puppy, Large Breed Lamb and Rice Formula, 40 Pound Bag Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Ive been trying to find lamb and rice puppy food for awhile now. For some reason I have not been successful until I got on Amazon and searched for it. It seems my puppy is allergic to chicken and beef flavors so it has been hard finding a brand that he likes. I just received this food today and so far my puppy loves it. It's a big bag of food so I'm hoping it will last about 2 months (maybe?). I'm really glad that I found this brand!
Edit: just noticed the price went down a little but there is a shipping cost. I bought mine for $41 (and some cents) and no shipping cost.

Wellness Super5Mix Dry Dog Food, Just for Seniors Recipe, 30-Pound Bag Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Pet guardians, please take the time to educate yourselves on what goes into your pet's food. That initiative will give them the gift of a longer, healthier life, eliminate many chronic health issues that pets face, save you money in vet bills in the long run... the list of benefits goes on and on.
I have done extensive research on canine and feline nutrition and I highly recommend, if you are going to feed commercial food, Welless, California Naturals or Innova. For a great complete meal, I give my dogs all one of those dry foods mixed with a little bit of canned from the same brands, water for hydration, a touch of a good quality essential oil (such as olive, flax, etc.), a touch of powdered kelp and alfalfa, a splash of organic apple cider vinegar, Prozyme digestive enzymes to unlock the nutrients in all that good food and top with a dollop of plain yogurt. It sounds like a lot, but it takes me less than 5 minutes to assemble the meals for 6 dogs - and they are ridiculously healthy an full of energy, even our 3 seniors who are 11, 12 and 13. I have two seniors with heart murmurs and at our most recent vet check, my dog with the worst heart murmur, a 12 year old beagle that I love desperately, had a 2-grade improvement in condition severity - that is HUGE. Good nutrition makes all the difference and, as an added bonus, I have yet to meet a dog that doesn't like it! My only quibble with the senior formulation of this great food is that it is very dry - I really do recommend that you add at least a touch of a good oil and water to it to prevent dry skin - dogs get most of their hydration from food.

Wellness Super5Mix, Just For Puppy Dog Food, 30-Pound Bag Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My boston terrier/english bulldog puppy's coat became shiny on this food, his breath smelled good, his gas wasn't stinky, and the food appears to have excellent ingredients. However, after over a month of eating Wellness, his stool never became firm (which it was on whatever cheap food he was eating at the breeders). It alternated between runny and mushy. I'd read similar reviews on various websites, but decided to try it anyway (everyone's experiences are different). Although I have no way of knowing this, I wonder if some of the fancier dogfoods overdo it with the flax and greentea---it would certainly give me the runs. Anyway, I think it's a good food and may work well for some dogs, but we've had to transition off of it to Merrick puppy plate, which, although it has similar ingredients, seems to be firming up the poop.

(More customer reviews)I have two large dogs, one a yellow lab, and the other a lab/dalmation mix. Both of these were on prescription foods(not the same, so quite costly), one had been treated for bladder stones, the other had pancreatitis. I tried Wellness and they have both never looked so good, and been so healthy. No recurring health problems which were a constant worry, and the best part they know can eat the same mix.

(More customer reviews)My breeder recommended this food and I'm so glad we have stayed with it. My puppy is 16 weeks old and has been on this food since she was weaned. I have been feeding it to her and she has put on 1/2 a pound in the last 5 weeks on it (she is a chihuahua and was 1 1/2 lbs when I took her home and at the vet's office today she weighed a hefty 2 pounds). I love that the first ingredients are a good source of protein and that there is a mixture of fruits and veggies for her too. It's a little more expensive, but totally worth it.

Nutro Natural Choice Small Bites Puppy Chicken Meal, Rice & Oatmeal Formula Dry Dog Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Hi, we own two pups. The previous owner gave us a bag of Purina food when we bought them. They were so itchy that I though they had fleas. I bought fleas medicine, but it didn't help. I went to petsmart, and they recommended me to buy this brand. Nutro Natural Choice Wheat free helped them. It eliminated their itch about 85 to 90% with the first bag. I never going to change the brand. The price is a bit expensive comparing with other brands, so I recommend to buy in ebay coupons for this food. I buy get $3.00 off for any bag. Petsmart sells a 5 lbs. bag @ $9.29, but Aubuchon sells their @ $7.99. Check your local distributors for prices. They also have a frequent buyer program (buy 10 and get 1 free). Register in their, and they will send you coupons.

Castor and Pollux Organix Puppy Chicken and Brown Rice Formula Dry Dog Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I recently adopted my six month old labradoodle, Hooper, from a rescue organization. I tried several organic puppy foods, including Blue Buffalo and Paul Newman, but none appealed to him strongly, and each resulted in loose stools.
Our vet was concerned about the loose stools, so I kept trying different foods (needless to say, this VERY pricey) until I came upon Castor & Pollux Organic puppy food. He adores it, his coat is shiny, teeth sparkling, energy healthy and perky and stools solid.
I highly recommend this product for a healthy, happy puppy.

Puppy Dry Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe (6 lb) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I have a 9 week-old Yorkie who was weaned onto Purina One Puppy. Once I brought her home, I started incorporating some ground meats (turkey, beef, pork) into her diet. Within a week, she refused to eat any dog food at all and would just play with her Purina pellets.
I knew she needed to work in something other than just an all-meat diet, especially at this age, so I went to the closest "natural pet food" place. The guy there bragged about how he studied 5 years of animal health and diet or something and recommended Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul. I gladly went home and mixed some in with her usual Purina One. To my surprise, Ruby actually hates it MORE than Purina One! When she's hungry enough to venture into dog-food-land (usually in the middle of the night), she would systematically pick out the Purina kibble to eat and spit out the Chicken Soup kibbles.
Yesterday, I went to my local Petsmart to pick up some Nature's Recipe Easy-to-Digest Chicken Meal, Rice and Barley Formula, which Ruby would eat whenever I drop her off at a friend's house for puppy-sitting (my friend owns her brother from the same litter). While I was there, the Blue Buffalo lady practically put back my bag of Nature's Recipe for me and forced me to try this brand instead. Since Ruby was doing her potty-wiggle in my arms, I didn't put up much of a fight with this lady and just bought all of the Blue Buffalo stuff she had picked out for me. I figured I could return it later after I did my research online if I didn't like the ingredients.
Well, to make long story short (which may be already too late for that), I put half Blue Buffalo and half Chicken Soup in Ruby's bowl this morning, and instead of her usual sniff-walkaway-whine routine whenever I put down dog food, she actually ate a good 1/4 oz of Blue! I know that doesn't sound like alot, but she only weighs 2lbs. Anyway, I'm pretty excited and will be putting up my 99%-full bag of Chicken Soup on Craigslist!

Halo Spot's Stew Chicken Recipe Puppy Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I have a finicky puppy. That's right, puppy, not kitten. I know this is hard to believe. After all, dogs are to food as, well, dogs are to food. Except mine. Oscar has tried a number of different foods -- all top of the line. And while he initially seems to like them, his early enthusiasm fades quickly. We're still giving Halo a chance -- sort of a last effort before adding canned food to the mix, something we desperate want to avoid. So far, so good. Certainly worth a try for those starting out and those contemplating a switch.
