(More customer reviews)Having spent 20 years working on the Pacific Rim I can state that Indonesian fried rice is far and away the best fried rice that you can get. In most places fried rice is just a way to use up leftovers. In Indonsia fried rice is an art form called Nasi Goreng. Nasi=Rice Goreng=Fried Istimewa=Special which means that there is a fried egg on top. Nasi goreng istimewa is usually served with Satay which is BBQ'd meat on a stick. The ABC brand Kecap Manis (sweet soy sauce) is a key ingredient in the fried rice. It is also the BBQ sauce that is used to make the Satay. This is wonderful stuff and is a common table item in Indonesia. It is a fine addition to many meats and vegetables either during the cooking stage or added at the table.

It's not only one of the best chutney's I've ever eaten with curry but it does double duty as a sweet/sour sauce or dip, turns regular old cheese sandwiches into a teatime delicacy and goes wonderfully with deli meats. We go through huge amounts of the stuff (as I imagine most south africans do) and I always take particular pleasure in introducing my american friends to its yumminess.
Highly recommended by this particular ex-pat.

(More customer reviews)Living in the UK, my husband and I enjoyed Nando's frequently. However, now in The States, there seem to be no Nando's restaurants! I am trying to understand how this could be when there are a million other mediocre restaurants here. KFC's nasty and fatty tasting chicken and sides could be well replaced with Nando's flame grilled peri-peri chicken dishes and their sides are better too... corn on the cob, chips(fries) with peri-peri spice which also taste great dipped in the Nando's peri-peri sauce, garlic bread, and my favourite spicy rice!
Seriously, if you haven't tried Nando's sauces you need to because it's the best I've ever tasted. If you live in The States it will be unlike anything you've ever had before and you'll love it. The Medium Peri-Peri is hot enough for my tastes, but if you can it's good to try to consume the Hot Nando's Peri-Peri as well as it contains more chillis. The more hot chillis one can consume the better for their metabolism and health. So, Nando's is not only a tasty choice, it is also a healthy one.

(More customer reviews)I been hooked on this sauce for about 12 years now, ever since my dad randomly bought it from Shop Rite. I've got to say, its not so much hot as it is flavorful. It has a kick to it, but it is also savery. I put it on corn, potatoes, meat, chicken, fish, and in PASTA dishes. My mom thinks it is really gross even after all this time that we still drench everything in it. My taste buds are still intact as well! This is my secret sauce that I wont even tell my fiancee because it is too good to be true. It is very hard to find in stores, but the original Shop Rite he bought it from still has it to this day (Maybe because we buy every single bottle) it cost about 2.50-3.00 for a single bottle. Tobasco Sauce eat your heart out. Tiger Sauce all the way!

(More customer reviews)After almost 20 years away from Rochester NY, Country Sweet is still one of my fondest memories from growing up. My friends and I were fortunate to have the restaurant close to our high school. You could pour this sauce on a ROCK and I'd bet that someone would EAT THAT ROCK! It's that good! Hopefully I won't offend anyone when I say that we used to call it "crack," but it seemed like no matter what time of night it was (and they were open until about 3AM if my memory is correct); there was always a line coming out of Country Sweet and we'd always catch someone walking out grinning, saying "I got SAUCE!."
Now, it is sweet, so for those watching their blood sugar, this may not be the best choice. For the rest of you, even those funny eaters (like me) who won't eat all of the meat off of a chicken wing, that will no longer be a problem. Infact, you'll have to keep yourself from eating the bones! Depending on the temperature,it can also have a bit of a kick, but the sweetness balances it out. It also has just the right amount of tang. Soooo good! I was excited to find some on Amazon since I have a niece moving down for college and was considering telling her she could only come if she's bringing the sauce! lol! Hey, I said it was addictive!

Well...the only other viable food choices in Slough are: spread meat sandwiches (with butter, sweet corn, free-range eggs, rocket, and mature cheese) at Amys (yuck!)..."unnamed" department store (made me sick)...or McDonalds/Burger King/Pizza Hut/Subway (I can get those down the street). But most importantly, it's the Peri Peri Sauce!
Though created for Nando's chicken, Peri Peri sauce is especially tastey as a dipping sauce for french fries. Thanks to Amazon.com, I can enjoy Peri Peri sauce everyday right here in the United States.
Warning: the "hot" is plenty hot enough. The extra hot is ridiculously hot!

I marinate chicken breats all day in the dressing, then grill them ... slice and top a tossed salad of romaine, shredded parm cheese and bacon ( we use bacon bits ) add coutons if you like them and you have a GREAT meal! If the dressing for the salad is too tart or not creamy enuf for you, you can mix with a creamy variety of Ceasar dressing, we use Marie's.
I am SO VERY EXCITED to have found this on amazon.com as it can't be found anywhere here in North Florida! And at such a GREAT price! Yea!!!! :)

Huey Fong Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce (28oz) Review

(More customer reviews)I'm a bit of spice hound and have flirted with other hot sauces before, but nothing has ever seized hold of me like Sriracha. An old Greenwich Village burger joint near where I worked at NYU used to serve it on the tables with popcorn and the combo was killer. The memory haunted me for years before I finally picked up a bottle. I shouldn't have waited. This stuff is amazingly addictive with a garlicky sweet hot yumminess that's hard to describe. It sits on my table in front of the salt and pepper and I've drained a bottle in a 3 month period. Incredible on eggs, superb on burritos, utterly transforms dull dietetic chicken vegitable dishes from the Chinese restaurant. I put a squirt in the health low-sodium soups instead of more salt and all of a sudden all the flavors perk up. Utterly highest recommendation.
I, personally, do not buy the 28oz size - even though it's almost the same price as the 17oz size. (it's not a total freebie - Shipping is a bit higher on the 28oz). While Sriracha has preservatives and doesn't need refrigeration it does oxidize a bit and at the pace I use it the bottom third of the 28oz gets a bit stale for me, while I suck the 17oz down while it's still fresh. If I lived in a house with more spice hounds (I'm the only one around here) or if I were cooking with it more often in larger recipies the 28oz would be a big bargain.

(More customer reviews)I like to tinker in the kitchen and make my own chutney but when winter comes I fill my pantry with Patak's. Compared with other chutney brands, I find Patak's offers a bolder taste that is both spicy and salty.
We buy Sweet Mango Chutney for the entire family because Patak's rates this blend at two chilies on a five-chili scale. Our sons, ages 7 and 5, have no trouble enjoying the chutney. I like hotter chutney as well but don't want to use up the refrigerator space by storing multiple jars.
Chutneys - derived from the Hindu word chatni - have many variations and can range from sweet, sour, hot or mild. Chutney consists of fruits, vegetables or a combination of both that is reduced to a pulp that is roasted or simmered and flavored with spices, sugar and vinegar.
Patak's Sweet Mango Chutney blends juicy mangoes with authentic spices and is served as a condiment to a curry but is also delicious on sandwiches (especially turkey, so keep it handy after Thanksgiving!) and hot salads.
Aida Mollenkamp at Chow offers this recipe for Cheddar and Chutney Tea Sandwiches.

The question is not whether cheese and chutney go well together, but rather which cheese to choose. As a nod to the British, we've opted for an aged sharp cheddar to star in this sandwich, but snacking in the test kitchen revealed that fresh goat cheese is a close runner-up.
Game plan: Let the sandwiches rest at room temperature for 30 minutes before serving, so the chutney has time to soak into the bread.
INGREDIENTS
8 tablespoons mango chutney
16 slices (2-1/2-by-2-1/2-inch) dark pumpernickel cocktail bread
4 ounces aged sharp cheddar, thinly sliced
INSTRUCTIONS
Spread a thin layer of chutney on one side of each bread slice. (You will use 1 tablespoon per sandwich or 1 1/2 teaspoons [1/2 tablespoon] per slice of bread.)
Top 8 slices with a layer of cheese (about 1/2 ounce per slice) and close sandwiches with remaining 8 slices of bread. Let sit about 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld. Serve sandwiches whole, or if you like, slice each sandwich in half on the diagonal.
Here's another delicious chutney recipe I found online:
Chutney-Glazed Cheese Pate
6 oz. cream cheese, softened
4 oz. sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
3 tablespoons dry Sherry
3/4 teaspoon curry powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 green onions, finely sliced (optional)
Mango chutney
Process the first five ingredients using a food processor until well blended. Spread cheese mixture in a ½" thick disc on a serving platter. Cover and chill until serving time. At serving time, spread the top of the cheese with chutney. Top with sliced green onions. Serve with crackers.
