You no longer have to hassle trying to make your own stock/broth. This product is condensed and has a real meat taste (not artificial), because it is made from meat. I have searched for years to find a product like this because I was feedup using store brand cubes, flakes and powders. Thanks to Amazon.com, I found exactly what I was looking for. The low sodium vegetable, chicken and beef bases are execellent too. I use them to add extra flavor to sauces, gravies, rice, noodles, and the vegetable base to enhance the flavor of tomato-based products. I highly recommended Minor's Soup Base to all of my friends. I am so excited about Minor's line that I have added other products to my Wish List to try.

Fortunately they both turned out to be tasty worthwhile investments. (More customer reviews)I first found Minor's bases at BJ's and quickly decided to chuck buying canned chicken broth and beef broth and boullion cubes. It's cheaper than canned, too, if you can find a local source. In using these to make recipes, I add the appropriate amount of base for the amount of water or liquid called for and do not add any salt called for by the recipe until the very end, when it can be added to taste. I note the amont of salt added and record it for future use. This is especially applicable in recipes calling for boullion cubes (horribly salty usually). Of late, in talking with restaurant owners,I learned Minor bases a what many restaurants use. The base keeps in the refridgerator seemingly forever. Search the internet for sources or, better yet, ask your local restaurants if they use it and where they get their supplies locally.

Mushroom Base Review

(More customer reviews)This item has been a staple in my pantry for at least two years. As a vegatarian, I find that many foods lack flavor. Many stocks are overly salty and seem to ruin my dishes. This stock however is excellent and lasts seemingly forever. I don't think it is possible to be dissappointed in this stock.

(More customer reviews)The soup base appears as a black tarry goo thrust in a plastic pail. However, when put into water and boiled the muck turns into a savory soup too good to imagine. Take two whopping tablespoons of gunk, put it in a large soup vessel filled with water, boil it, add fresh vegetables and cut potatoes and you have a dinner beyond compare for a paltry price compared to canned soup. I make south american beans with the base tool. Enjoy!

(More customer reviews)If you are like me and cannot abide by powdered or jar gravy, then this is what you must have!!! THIS IS REAL GENUINE TURKEY STOCK!! I have used this product for a few years. I usually add it and some water or broth (this is concentrated and like a gel) to the drippings I already have just to make the gravy I already have go much further, I can double or triple - I mean, everyone loves gravy and leftovers, too! I have added small amounts when I am making turkey or chicken soups and it would probably work well in stuffing for the extra turkey flavor. I also have the beef and ham since my family loves, loves, loves gravies.

(More customer reviews)Campbell's may not be a fancy gourmet brand, but everyone knows what they're getting when they buy it- no surprises. Cream of Mushroom soup is a staple in alot of my recipes and I'm not willing to experiment with other brands. Everyone is probably familiar with the contents of the can; I'll talk about the packaging. The cans were delivered in a shrink-wrapped cube of two 24-can cardboard trays- inside an Amazon box, of course. Your delivery man may not appreciate your order- it's not light. This is the small can size- I wish they offered the family size cans or larger sizes. If your recipe requires ALOT of cream of mushroom you will be opening alot of cans. These are the pop-tops, but that is still alot of scraping. Buying this on the subscription plan is a fantastic deal- if you need it I highly recommend it!

I like how I can determine the amount I use. Unlike bouillon, I can scoop up the amount I want to use with my spoon--especially helpful since I usually go back for more. This Miller's product has MSG and we try to avoid that as much as possible. I gave it four stars since it's my own fault that I wasn't more careful in ordering and it does taste good.

Fat-free broths such as this one are widely available, thank goodness (and you can make almost any broth fat-free yourself, just by chilling it, removing the top of the container, and discarding the fat which will have risen to the top).
But it's pretty hard to find decent low-sodium broths, partly because it's cheaper for food companies to add salt than to flavor their product any other way. Swanson's used to have fat-free, sodium-free broths that I swore by, but I literally can't find them anymore.
This is the next best thing. Both this and the chicken version let you drastically cut back on the salt in what is, let's face it, the most voluminous ingredient in most of your cooking.
Since studies suggest that average Americans eat at least twice the safe amount of sodium each day, and since high sodium intake is associated with high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and other health issues, these 50%-reduced-sodium broths can make a big difference for all of us. Way to go!! (Now, if only we could get the sodium free versions??!!) :)

My problem is not with the company or the product but rather with Amazon's shop. I have ordered cases of the beef broth twice from Amazon and both times at least 50% of the cans were significantly damaged. Its as if I was being sold factory seconds. But at a premium retail price. I am very reluctant to buy again because I feel that I am being abused by Amazon's distributor.
