Fortunately they both turned out to be tasty worthwhile investments. Using this base, along with some powdered bullion I bought here as well, has enabled me to make the best veggie beef soup in the united states. Try it, its very good

(More customer reviews)I love this product. I use it frequently as seasoning in soup, stir fry and gravy. It has a nice taste, is low in sodium, and gluten free. I like how I can determine the amount I use. Unlike bouillon, I can scoop up the amount I want to use with my spoon--especially helpful since I usually go back for more. I The only downfall: I wish this came in a bigger container.

When yeast is autolyzed, protein is broken-down during that processing and glutamic acid is freed (processed free glutamic acid is none other than MSG). According to truthinlabeling.org, "There are over forty food ingredients besides 'monosodium glutamate' that contain processed free glutamic acid. Each, according to the FDA, must be called by its own unique, 'common or usual' name." Thus, food manufacturers can state 'no added MSG' for their product yet the product may still contain MSG disguised by another name, such as 'autolyzed yeast extract', 'hydrolyzed protein', 'calcium caseinate', etc. You get the point. MSG and its various pseudonyms are everywhere and in everything (including body care products, infant formula, etc.) so read, read, read labels please and become informed.

If you do alot of cooking and always need vegetable or chicken stock, this is all natural, no MSG(like alot of broths on the shelves), and is fantastic!!!!! You only need 1 tsp. for 8oz. water,so its a great deal! Think about switching, you'll be glad you did,I promise!

(More customer reviews)I ordered this product thinking it was the Le Gout Chicken Base I love so much. When I got it, the first thing I noticed was the color was a bright mustard-yellow instead of the darker-colored one I was used to. Comparing the labels on the bottles, I then realized this was a "chicken flavor base" instead of "chicken base". Comparing the ingredients, you can see that chicken is not even listed as an ingredient, only chicken fat. Since this is a grocery item it cannot be returned. My mistake, just don't want anyone else to make the same one I did.

One of her kids has allergy, so she has also been looking for good gluten free food products. She first found this line of soup base in a high-end food store in the East Coast and tried it out. Her whole family loved (and still loves) it. She sent me one as gift a few months ago and we tried it out and my kids love it too. We used to boil meat and vegetable or 2-3 hours and used the soup to cook food for the kids. This was very time and energy consuming. We tried other soup bases in the past but the kids complained about being very thirsty after drinking those. This one is great. It saves us a lot of work and the kids still get healthy delicious soup! I recently found it on Amazon & bought 5 different flavors. I use it in all kinds of recipes and it's actually a bit cheaper than all the chemicalized stuff. It's great for soups but even to add flavor to your pot of beans or enchance your gravy with the juice from your meat and this. Oh my it's yummmy!

The beef is really good, too, although not quite as good as the chicken. I plan to order the vegetable base soon.

It's richer and tastier than any other broth or stock I've used. An excellent base for home-made soups, stews or cooking in general. It'll make a 15 min. "soup" that's good for the soul.

(More customer reviews)I found this product in a gourmet grocery store, and since I like to make sauces, but don't have the time usually to do it from scratch, I tried it. I taste tested it against three different canned and boxed stocks I have used, and it was better. Depending on the concentration you mix it to, it is always chickeny, just a hint of sweet, and looks just like regular stock. I have even tried putting a quarts worth of the concentrate into a cupful of sauce and it doesn't make it salty, just taste richer, and it doesn't seem to affect the chemistry of sauces, thick or thin, no extra tendency to break. I have since tried all the other flavors with equal success. These are great for gourmet camp cooking too, and can be used any where you need a stock but don't want ot haul all the weight and bulk. Makes great soups too, friends and family rave about my Greek Avgolemeno soup which only uses this as the stock, along with some orzo, lemon, egg and diced cooked chicken.
