(More customer reviews)This is the soup that took top honors at last year's Fancy Food Show in New York, except now they're packaging it in a fully-cooked, hear & eat pouch that I don't have to refrigerate. Now I can have my Green Chile Chicken Soup in 60 seconds, not 40 minutes. It's faithful to the original recipe that I used to get at the deli at the Albuquerque airport. Delicious!

(More customer reviews)Broths or stocks have become ubiquitous in homestyle cooking, but many of us want to limit fat and sodium. Fat-free broths such as this one are widely available, thank goodness (and you can make almost any broth fat-free yourself, just by chilling it, removing the top of the container, and discarding the fat which will have risen to the top).
But it's pretty hard to find decent low-sodium broths, partly because it's cheaper for food companies to add salt than to flavor their product any other way. Swanson's used to have fat-free, sodium-free broths that I swore by, but I literally can't find them anymore.
This is the next best thing. Both this and the chicken version let you drastically cut back on the salt in what is, let's face it, the most voluminous ingredient in most of your cooking.
Since studies suggest that average Americans eat at least twice the safe amount of sodium each day, and since high sodium intake is associated with high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and other health issues, these 50%-reduced-sodium broths can make a big difference for all of us. Way to go!! (Now, if only we could get the sodium free versions??!!) :)

(More customer reviews)Whatever the "Natural Goodness" adds to the broth to differentiate it from the regular Swanson chicken broth, it works! Very tasty stuff. Used it to make mashed potatoes, to add some moisture to lasagna, as a starter for homemade chicken soup, in couscous. I ordered 2 cases and went through most of it in less than 8 weeks. The 16 oz is a good size if you cook for 1 or 2. For a larger family, I'd recommend the 32 oz size.

(More customer reviews)As someone who has gone from cooking for 4 to now cooking for 1-2 I'm having to adjust recipes to make smaller portions. Chicken broth is a grocery item that I use in many recipes but small (8oz) portions are not available at any of the local grocery stores in my hometown. I ordered this because of the convenience of being able to open only what I need but I will continue to purchase not only because of size but taste. The taste is awesome compared to Swanson's, Campbells, Sweet Sue, etc. This broth has no clumps of fat floating as with previously mentioned brands and it's not high in sodium. It is organic, healthy, gluten free and tastes GREAT!
