Stonewall Kitchens Vidalia Onion Fig Sauce 11-Ounce Jars (Pack of 6) Review

Although I'm not particular fond of figs, I bought this sauce/marinade on the advice of a total stranger I met at a Long Island, NY winery. He told me how unbelievable it was on steak, and, boy, was he right! I've used it on steak as a dipping sauce and I've barbequed with it. I've used it on pork and chicken and have had it accidentally soak up into my side dish on my plate, such as rice and vegetables. I don't care what you use it on, it's absolutely the most delicious concoction I've ever used on everything (although, I must admit, I haven't tried it on ice cream or cake! Just joking!) I'm so hooked, I plan to buy a case of it.

Korean BBQ Sauce Hot and Spicy (Chick/Pork/Seafoods Marinade) Review

Korean BBQ Sauce Hot and Spicy (Chick/Pork/Seafoods Marinade)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love this marinade. The first time I used it, I bought very thinly pre-sliced pork. Because I didn't think my kids would like the spiciness, I marinated half the pork in sesame oil and soy sauce and the other half for my husband and me in the Korean BBQ sauce. I marinated it just 30 minutes. I heated the grill to medium heat and used tin foil to cover it. I dumped the meat and sauce onto the foil, and spread it into a single layer. It cooked really fast because the meat was so thin, just a few minutes on each side. Be careful not to cook it on too high a heat because there is a lot of sugar in the sauce and it can burn easily. Anyway, we served this with lettuce leaves and steamed white rice so we could make lettuce wraps. We had grilled garlic and Sam Chang (fermented bean paste which is way more delicious than it sounds) and shredded carrots. The kids loved to make their own wraps at the table. The only problem is that after trying our marinated meat, they devoured it, sauce and all and left us with the sesame-soy meat. Last night, I just did a double batch of the pork and we didn't have a scrap left! This is a terrific sauce that is easy to use and makes a healthy, delicious and fast meal!

Shake 'N Bake Seasoned Coating Mix, Parmesan, 5.75-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 8) Review

Shake 'N Bake Seasoned Coating Mix, Parmesan, 5.75-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 8)

The one complaint that I have with traditional Shake 'N Bake is that no matter how hard I try, or how hard my now-departed wife had tried, when either of us used Shake 'N Bake we never quite got the results shown in the picture on the box. There'd always be spotty coverage and the bottom of the chicken or pork we had cooked would be somewhat soggy and less crispy than promised.
Surprisingly enough, the Parmesan Shake 'N Bake seems to come much, much closer (in it's final results) to what you see on the picture on the box.
My children love Parmesan coated pork and chicken that we've gotten at a nice restaurant we occassionally go to and I've long since grown bored with traditional Shake 'N Bake flavor. (Barbeque doesn't work as an alternative for me as I don't much care for Barbeque flavor myself.) I thought about finding a nice parmesan crusted recipe and actually found one online that several people seemed to think was pretty good, though my own laziness kicked in as I thought about the hassles of following that recipe and wished that there was a Shake 'N Bake variety that would offer what I was looking for. A few seconds of internet searching later and I was rewarded with the knowledge that what I was looking for is out there. From there, it was just a trip to a local grocer's store to find a box to take home and use.
Now that I know that I can get this flavor from Amazon, in a fairly big package (enough to last through several meals), I'm a very happy at home chef, and my children will also be happy to consume the cooked results.
As to the flavor and taste, it's pretty good. Not over whelmingly cheesy, but a nice start towards a tasty flavor. Home chefs may wish to add a little extra garlic or other Italian herbs or spices to the mix before they coat the chicken or pork (though the box shows chicken in the picture, it can be used for either chicken or pork) just to flavor to their own personal tastes, but again, what is here is a very good start.

Tom Douglas Pork Rub Review

Tom Douglas Pork Rub
Average Reviews:

As a spice mix fan, I have to give a strong thumbs-up for Chef Tom's Pork Rub. The dominant notes in this mix are cumin, coriander, and chile. This isn't a hot mix per se - if you want to kick things up a notch, I'd recommend adding a dash of cayenne - but it is excellent. Only the two standout mixes that Chef Tom sells: Chef Tom Douglas Rub With Love Salmon Rub and Chef Tom Douglas Rub With Love Chicken Rub are better.
This is best on baby back ribs, lamb chops, and pork roast. I only remove a star because the mix isn't that versatile: it's not particularly suited for spicing up soup, chicken, or fish.

Tom Douglas ""Rub with Love"" Pork Rub is the perfect low and slow barbecue rub accented by cumin, coriander and just a touch of cayenne.Perfect rubbed on anything thing from chicken and duck to pork ribs and shrimp. Tom and his wife Jackie own 5 of Seattle's most remarkable restaurants - Dahlia Lounge, Etta's, Palace Kitchen, Lola and Serious Pie. Our restaurants have also inspired a product line. Rub with Love has a great story: When we opened our seafood restaurant Etta's in 1995, the menu featured a signature salmon dish that was dry rubbed. The rub combined brown sugar, smoked chilies, and a hint of thyme to evoke the alder smoked salmon the Pacific Northwest is famous for. The dish became so popular (and still is) that people began asking for rub to use at home. After selling in hand packed zip lock bags for a few years, we introduced the Tom Douglas Rub with Love rub line in 1999. The rest is history...A great selling point for Rub with Love Spice Rubs is their fast prep time. A quick sprinkle and rub 5-10 minutes prior to cooking is all the time it takes. Our spice rubs marry with the juices of whatever you're flavoring to form a delicious glaze. In just 10 minutes, you're ready to cook! You can grill, bake, barbecue or sauté with Rub with Love Spice Rubs.Chef inspired, restaurant tested, quick, easy and delicious, our rubs have become staples in our customers' pantries.

Waggin Train Pork Skin Twist, Real Liver Center - 3.53 lbs Review

I have two yellow labs that have been very healthy over their ten years of life, excluding the fatty tumors and hip problem the bred is prone to. In August, 2010 I purchased these treats at Sam's Club. I try never to buy dog treats made in China, but somehow these slipped by me. Also this was the first time I had bought a pork treat. The dogs had a few of the treats from the bag over the next month. They started having loose stools and eventually one dog began vomiting. I brought him to the vet and they prescribed antibiotics. The other dog seemed fine until one night, he started heavy breathing and wouldn't stop. He kept coming in and waking us up. We tried letting him out, but eventually realized he was in distress and brought him to the emergency clinic at 2:30 a.m. They treated him for pain and recommended chest X-rays and blood work. By then, it was almost morning, so we moved the dog to our own vet.
After blood tests and further examinations, both dogs were diagnosed with pancreatitis. They had to be hospitalized and put on IVs for 3 days to allow the pancreas to heal. Currently they are on antibiotics, pain killers, and stomach medicine. They go back for another blood test for pancreatic levels on Monday. For a month, they can have no treats and hereafter, they must be on a low-fat diet. As you can imagine, the treatment has been quite expensive. The dogs have no energy and one still is barely eating. They are both weak.
Working with the vet, we reviewed everything the dogs had been eating. He was positive they had gotten into something. This was the only change to their diet we could identify.
We are shocked and heartbroken at all the distress our poor dogs have suffered. I hope that they continue to heal and that this does not lead to more serious problems. I just want everyone to know that dogs are extremely prone to pancreatitis and should not have high fat treats. A quick look at this bag is very misleading. It reports the maximum of most items, but only the minimum on crude fat. The minimum listed is 5.5%. You don't learn what the true amount of fat is. Also it says you can serve one treat per day. It does have a disclaimer that you should ask your vet about using them with older dogs.
I don't know if being made in China is the problem or the amount of fat in the treat, or something else. I just want to warn other people, so they don't end up with their dogs seriously ill.
