Nutro Ultra Senior Dry Dog Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)We've fed our dog the Nutro line since she was a puppy. She's been on the Ultra line since they started making that 5 or 6 years ago. It's kept her coat very shiny even now that she's a senior.
Note: I'm not sure if this is a limited time offering, but the pricing of this food is cheaper on Amazon and shipping is free compared to directly from Petco.

Pacific Natural Foods Organic Cream Of Mushroom Condensed Soup, 12-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I am very sensitive to MSG and all its derivatives (yeast extract, etc). This is the only Cream of Mushroom soup I have ever found that does not have yeast extract in it or MSG. Even other "organic" cream of mushroom soups contain yeast extract. I had to give up some of my favorite recipes because I couldn't find a cream of mushroom soup that didn't cause me to have my "MSG headaches." Well not any more. I can enjoy all my favorite recipes again! This soup is great tasting and adds wonderful flavor to my recipes. I even love how it comes in a carton rather than a can. The quality of the soup is great and the ingredients are all natrual. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has MSG sensitivities or who is just looking to add more great tasting natural ingredients to their recipes.

Bob's Red Mill Wheat Free Biscuit & Baking Mix, 24-Ounce Packages (Pack of 4) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)They were thick, like Bisquick biscuits. They tasted great. Would be WONDERFUL in Chicken & Dumplings...
The only thing I did wrong when making them, was using Bob's Red Mill sAll purpose gluten free flour to roll the biscuit dough in. It made the outside of our biscuits taste like raw beans... yuck! I used White Rice flour, and they tasted great ;)
For a "buttery" flavor, put butter (or, if you are GFCF a non-casien containing margarine spread) on the top for a taste similar to KFC. Taste great with jelly in the middle, too. :) I froze the unbaked "left-over" biscuits, and they turned out well 2 months later. :)

Castor & Pollux Organix Adult Canine Formula Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)We used to have two pomeranians - Autumn and Teddie. Ever since we lost Teddie last summer, Autumn became very depressed and wouldn't eat. We tried so many different brands including home-cooked, he would only ate a couple times and wouldn't touch it anymore. He lost so much weight and got us so worried. But that all changed when we found Organix and that's the only brand Autumn will eat. Now he can't wait until I feed him every morning. The cost Amazon offered is less expenisve than other retailers and you can't beat free shipping!! Please continue carrying it!!

Vitalife Duck & Sweet Potato Twists 5.7oz - Dog Treats Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)These little guys not only drive my dog wild, they also last her a long time. Normally treats get chewed once and swallowed within seconds, but these treats last my dog up to a full minute. After pulling off the chicken, the tough, yet tasty sweet potato takes a while to get through. Also, the price is incredible for this high-quality, fair quantity product! I will continue to buy this product for life.

Kinnikinnick Foods Gluten-Free Crispy Chicken Coating Mix, 18-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I was disappointed in this product since their bread mix is so quick and easy and very good. First of all, it needs more flavor, which I intend to supplement with spices on future batches until it's gone. Next, it isn't crunchy, at least when oven baked. I prefer to use cornflake crumbs. Gluten-free cornflakes are available - check in health food stores. Just put the flakes in a plastic bag and run over with a rolling pin to get crumbs, add spices of your choice (I like a teaspoon each of paprika and salt plus 1/4 teaspoon pepper to 1/2 cup of crumbs), dip the chicken in egg, roll in crumbs and bake.

Castor and Pollux Natural Ultramix Puppy Chicken, Vegetables and Brown Rice Canine Formula in Gravy Canned Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My 3 months-old Yorkie puppy is a bit spoiled because I feed her ground turkey/beef at least once a day...and then I "attempt" to get her to eat dry dog food (Blue Buffalo Chicken and Brown Rice Puppy Food 6 lbs.) for her other meal but she usually just plays with it when she starts getting hungry. It also takes her a good while to eat dry dog food because it looks like it's too hard for her little teeth to chew...
I heated up a bit of this today and she happily ate a good amount before falling asleep. All of the ingredients (at least the first half) are natural meats, grains, veges, and fruits. I'm hoping that I can start mixing in some dry food with this to encourage her to eat a more nutritionally balanced diet.
** UPDATE **
I can't change my rating on this item but I wanted to add that this gave her some serious problems the day after I wrote the review above. When I came home from work during lunch, she was pacing back and forth on my rug. A few minutes later, a stream of clear, mucus-y liquid squirted out from her rear end. It repeated every few seconds and I ended up on my knees, trying to catch her projectile squirts as she kept trying to walk away from me. Needless to say, I had to toss the remaining 80% of the can and she has never had another problem since.

Bob's Red Mill Organic Brown Rice Flour, 24-Ounce Packages (Pack of 4) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I have been baking gluten-free on a daily basis for approximately 3 years. Believe me when I say that I have tried just about every brand of Brown Rice Flour there is. Here is the skinny:
If you want a very tender, melt in your mouth baked good that is reminiscent of your wheat flour days, use Authentic Foods Brown Rice Flour. Their BRF is so fine that it is almost silky. If you bake as much as I do, and want to use Authentic Foods BRF for everything, you should look into getting a second job. That stuff is PRICEY.
If you don't want to get a second job, Bob's Red Mill BRF is the way to go, but your baked good will suffer a bit due to the sandy, gritty texture of this flour. Through trial and error, you will find that it works fine for some recipes, but others may seen a bit more gritty and crumbly. Processing this BRF in the Cuisinart or blender doesn't seem to help. So, I plan to beg Bob to choose a finer grind for the BRF his company produces. PLEASE. Pretty please? I would love you forever.

Bisquick Pancake and Baking Mix, Gluten-Free, 16-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 3) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)We LOVE the new gluten free Bisquick! I used to for cheddar biscuits mostly until we found out that we had a milk protein intolerance. Now, we are using this to make so many more recipes because it is dairy free and from what I can tell allergen free. The only thing I would like better (General Mills-if you are listening-I know I am not the only one that wants this) is if it came in bulk packaging. Just put the GF Bisquick in a larger box like the regular Bisquick and then sell in a 3 or 6 pack. Just mark that this review was helpful if you agree and maybe GM will listen! LOVE THIS-ORDER NOW!!

Mrs. Leeper's Chicken Alfredo Dinner, 7.05 Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This versatile pasta dinner mix comes with a half box of rice noodles and a powdered mix of creamy Alfreda sauce.
All you have to do is boil the noodles (do not overcook), add milk (even better, sour cream and/or cheese!) and stir in the mix. I add celery, bell peppers and onions also. You can be creative!
They call it "chicken" but I have tried adding salmon and tuna for different results. I like albacore tuna best of all for the meat.
For vegetarians, meat isn't necessary to make this a satisfying meal!
A tip: It's less salty if you only use 3/4 to 1/2 of the packet and add cheese instead. Also, if you mix a different noodle in with it, like Vitaspelt, it tastes even better!

Loving Pets All Natural Premium Sweet Potato Biscuit and Chicken Wraps with Glucosamine and Chondroitin Dog Treats, 8 oz Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)We used these treats to train our dog to be good with our cats. We started training with other treats and ran out, and when we found these she went nuts for them! This is her favorite treat we have given her. We break them up and put them in her Kong toy and she is occupied for a really long time. The other Loving Pets varieties we have tried she also loves, but she loved these even more. Highly recommend!

Gluten Free Cafe Chicken Noodle Soup, 15-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I was looking forward to this gluten free soup because the picture looks great. It does have a starchy taste which happens when noodles are not rinsed after cooking, they are probably cooking the pasta right in with the soup from the start rather than cook and rinse first. It's hard to find any canned chicken noodle soup gluten free so this is a good start, with canned soup containing pasta starchy soft pasta is probably hard to avoid.
Particularly because rice pasta is extremely starchy I have been partially cooking pasta separately and rinsing and keep in fridge, when heating soup or broth I just add the pasta at the end a couple of minutes prior to eating and it works best. I got the idea from a restaurant serving soups as a gluten free option - they do not put pasta into the soup until just before serving to prevent mushy pasta. I will probably go back to this method for soups with noodles but will definitely try some of the other Gluten Free Cafe soups that do not contain pasta.

Castor & Pollux Organix Adult Canine Formula Dry Dog Food Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I fed this to my dogs for about 4 years. At the time I believed this to be the best food on the market. I didn't however know that it was so high in grains. The first ingredient is chicken, but it is weighed prior to being cooked. After processing, it only maintains 20-25% of its original weight. Were it to be weighed after dehydration, it would be much further down the ingredient hierarchy. My vet told me my dog's dry skin and lack of fur sheen was likely due to the high grain content of his food and insufficent Omega-3's in his diet. After calling C&P I was suprised to learn that the Omega-3 levels are only 0.28%, which is significantly lower than many other premium foods.
I have since switched to Orijen brand 6-Fish dog food. The Omega-3's are 4 times higher and the Glucosamine/Chondroitin levels approximately 10 times higher. All the fish are wild-caught in Canadian waters, never frozen, delivered daily, and are from species that retain little or no Mercury or PCB's in their tissue. My dog has since stopped scratching and has developed a vibrant, glossy coat. He is also much more energetic, which really alarmed me at first.
I don't believe C&P to be a bad food, but I believe that there are much better foods out there. Dog Food Analysis, a non-bias food review site, only rates the C&P(Ultramix and Organix) at 4 out of 6 stars. The only food brands to earn their 6 star rating were Orijen, Evo, Instinct, and Taste of the Wild. I made my final decision by comparing the ingredients.
If price is not a concern for you, then I'd encourage you to try the Orijen.
