(More customer reviews)...is because a major ingredient that ruins it is soy sauce. You just don't think of sweet and sour sauce as being salty. Instead of throwing it away or returning it to the supermarket where I bought it from, I mixed one part of the Kikkoman Sweet & Sour Sauce to one part honey to make it taste better. I bought it just to try something different but I'll never buy it again. I'll just stick with the La Choy Sweet and Sour Sauce which also does NOT contain high fructose corn syrup.

(More customer reviews)I have tried many soups lately in search of something that tastes as close to homemade as possible without cooking for 5 hours. Chicken Noodle is hard to find since Grandma made the best ever from scratch. I've tried so many cans and mixes I almost didn't want to waste anymore money in search of good soup that was seemingly nowhere to be found. This was on sale for $13 and I bit the bullet. Thank goodness!!!!! I loved it - I added nothing but assumed it would need salt, pepper, chicken, and veggies added to be good. But this is great all on it's own. I went to put it away twice and each time had another cup. I'd always rather have homemade but I am so happy to find something edible that doesn't taste like it's package or like chemicals or preservatives, now I need to try another Bear Creek flavor.

The store I currently shop at does not carry this product (old shopping store did) so I was quick to buy a six pack. Easy to make - I added additional veggies that I stir fried, then chicken, all the items in the kit and wow it is really good.
I am going to try shrimp and pork when I get the six pack. I also ordered the Wanchai Ferry Cashew Chicken, have not gotten it yet so I'll wait to add a review for the Wanchai Ferry Cashew Chicken.

(More customer reviews)This is my favorite Chinese meal. So good I don't mind the fact that you make it yourself (not that it is hard with this idiot proof kit). The flavors are wonderful. Last time I got kung pao chicken from a place near me it was mostly zucchini and carrots. This kit delivers superior flavor. I stir fry my chicken in chili oil then follow the directions, perfect everytime. I use chicken thighs instead of breasts to be more authentic. I buy this all the time now. The Cashew one is good too but slightly more complicated.

I hope that this review can and will help you make your decision pertaining to purchasing this product.
In a brief statement, I can sincerely document that my opinion and experience with this product was terrible. First of all, the contents of the meal that are within the bag are all there, however the quantity and quality of the chicken may unpleasantly surprise you. I can recall counting approximately four small pieces of previously frozen chicken "meat" balls.
The low quantity of the chicken balls is really of little concern, but I just wanted to put it out there. It's of little concern because the terrible smelling and tasting sweet and sour sauce and tasteless vegetables should fill you up.
The rice is, well rice. Can't really hate on it, but again I do think this product is terrible, and the taste of the rice is non-existent due to the overwhelming bad taste of the sweet and sour sauce and of course, the chewy and low quality meat product called chicken.
Cooking is very simple as long as you follow the clearly defined instructions - that's the only reason I gave this review an extra star. Just be prepared to have a foul odor linger in your kitchen for the rest of the evening.
In conclusion, I can only (and quite honestly) suggest avoid purchasing this product and wasting your money. Go with fresh ingredients for maybe a few more dollars; it will be well worth it. :)
The other reviews baffle me. I can't understand how humans can like this garbage?

(More customer reviews)This one (sweet sour) and the Kung Pao are very good. Both are better than many Chinese resturants. In the case of the Sweet and Sour the chicken you put in is considerably than the heavily crusted stuff you get at many resturants. I personally stir in a small can of pineapple chunks plus the one that comes in the box and a cut up green pepper and some cut up onion shortly before removing the wok from the stove. Too early overcooks and too soon results in cold spots. I dump the seasoning powder in a large zip lock bag and then toss the chicken in the seasoning. It makes for very tasty chicken. I also go beyond what the box calls for with the Kung Pao. I add some celery, onion and 1" squares of green pepper. I also add a table spoon of red chili sauce to the mix for added spice. It is adequately spicey for most out of the box. I found the spicy garlic to be quite good. I was unimpressed with Cashew chicken.
