Nong Shim Bowl Noodle, Kimchi, 3.03-Ounce Bowls (Pack of 12) Review

Nong Shim Bowl Noodle, Kimchi, 3.03-Ounce Bowls (Pack of 12)

If your only ramen experience was a dry, tasteless brick dumped into a pot of bowling water that you purchased six for a dollar, then you are in luck. Once you try a Nong Shim noodle bowl you will never go back to Nissin Top Ramen.
Nong Shim delivers a flavorful instant noodle meal, balancing seasoning and spice for a perfect lunch on a cold, winter day. The noodle bowl has a rich, red broth that is visibly loaded with spices. I've recommended Nong Shim to many people but a few, because of the kimchi flavor, have been hesitant to give it a try. I can attest that Nong Shim's noodles are not as pungent as `fresh' kimchi.
I submitted two product photos. Please give them a look. One shows the ChefsBest Award and endorsements Nong Shim received. Nong Shim is the leading brand of ramyoen (ramen instant noodles) in South Korea.
I recommend adding refrigerator scraps to your noodles; perhaps, whole kernel corn (for sweetness) or some tofu, finely chopped green onions (scallions), chopped, cooked beef, chicken or seafood. An egg is another delicious addition, either hard boiled and chopped or over easy.
One final note: a serving is high in sodium, so skip drinking the soup if that is a concern as the noodles themselves contain little sodium. You can reduce your sodium intake by more than 60 percent if you don't drink the soup.
Rating: Five stars.

Lots of noodles here. I like the Nongshim brand, it is not like those instant noodles that are mostly packed with air. Once cooked, you will find the noodles brimming to the top.
I just open the lid halfway, pour three-quarters of the seasoning packet, pour some boiling water and then let it stand for 5 minutes. The next time I open it, I give it a little stir and I stare on it for another good 5 minutes.
Try to include some real pieces of chicken or pork meat, some Thai brocolli, and some hard boiled eggs. That's the meal.

TSM Products Fermentation Pot, 10 Liter capacity Review

TSM Products Fermentation Pot, 10 Liter capacity

I ordered this pot after I had purchased 2 sizes of the Harsch Fermenting pots just because I liked the color and shape of the TSM and wanted to try it and compare with the pots I already use. I still like the color and outside shape, but those are the only things I prefer to the Harsch pot. The TSM has a smaller channel for the lid and does not hold as much water. That means that one must be more attentive and diligent in keeping the channel filled to maintain the seal and I definitely prefer the lower maintenance Harsch pots. The interior of the pot narrows towards the top and I apparently didn't buy enough veggies as I should have because the stone weights weren't big enough and I needed to add paper-weights to cover the large area that weren't weighted by the stones. The straight sides of the Harsch pot make it easier to make smaller batches if you aren't perfect in your calculations of how many vegetables to buy and process. I didn't like was that the edge of the lid was not glazed and the lid itself absorbed water from the channel that gets slimy. It seemed unsanitary. The water absorbtion was also an issue with my first batch because as the lid swelled, a large crack revealed itself. (Amazon was great about replacing it.)

Harsch Gairtopf Fermenting Crock Pot - 10 Liter - ME7420 Review

No doubt, this is a very nice crock. The picture on the web shows a taller crock, but the 5 liter size is actually a little wider and "squattier" than pictured. Height and width of the crock did not matter in my case. The crock I received had a few coarse pieces of pottery on the edges of the rims and on the bottom, which caused a deep scratch in my counter top. I used an emory board to smooth out the burrs, which took about thirty seconds. So just be careful when unpacking the crock...an emory board took off the rough spots very easily and did not leave any mark on the crock. This crock is heavy and extremely will packed for shipping. I really hesitated to spend $106.on one crock, but just the fact that this crock has a ring on the top which holds water to keep the contents clean has already made me a believer in it. This is a good size for one person. I would recommend a larger crock for a family.Follow up: This is a VERY heavy crock when full.
Well, after two very deep scratches on my corian counter, I am going to adhere some thick felt or cork to the bottom of the crock. I did not completely remove the burrs on the bottom of the crock and it really messed up my counter. Set it on a cork pad or heavy felt before placing it on any surface. I am loving the results of the fermenting, though!

Harsch Gairtopf Fermenting Crock Pot - 5 Liter - ME7409 Review

I have had this Harsch Gairtopf Fermenting Crock Pot on my wish list for years. I at long last finally made the purchase when I found the 7.5.Litre size recently through an Amazon link for $119 and free shipping!!! It is the German fermentation stoneware crock by Harsch Steinzeug and has no labelling for Miracle (the sole importer) as it is shown at Amazon. (Mine just arrived from Germany. It was on back order for some time).
This fermentation crock pot is highest quality as you might expect from German craftsmen. It truly is the Mercedes Benz of stoneware fermentation pots. It is made of stoneware and covered with a lead-free glazing. It is beautiful and easy to handle, clean and use.
The unique Harsch method of fermentation is proven. The crock includes 2 stoneware weighing stones which replace the wooden board and cloth of other methods. (If you've ever done fermentation that way, you know the problems you can have). Furthermore the lid has a deep water groove which provides an airtight sealing that prevents undesired yeast from forming. Clear instructions are included as well as some basic recipes.
I debated for a long time between the 5 litre and 7.5 litre crocks. I ended up choosing the 7.5 litre size. (There are also larger ones ranging from 10 to 50 litres). I was a little afraid that I had chosen a crock much too large for just a single person like myself but I'm very glad I settled on the 7.5L. It's perfect although I would still like the 5L too so I can being doing a smaller batch of some other food such as kimchi or pickles fermenting at the same time.
I do have 4 large heads of organic cabbage, about 12 lbs, filling the 7.5L to capacity and fermenting beautifully right now. Considering how much I have to spend each week on store-bought organic, unpasteurized sauerkraut or other cultured vegetables ~ my Harsch crock is going to pay for itself in no time! I am anticipating 8 one quart Mason jars of finished kraut
I love my beautiful Harsch crock, definitely would buy it all over again and hope to do just that soon!

Make natural nutrition-packed sauerkraut and pickled vegetables with this stoneware crock pot from Germany! Through the years, sauerkraut has been recognized as one of the healthiest foods, and was even used on sailing ships to protect sailors from scurvy. Recently in the news, sauerkraut and pickled vegetables fermented the natural way with lactic acid fermentation are being credited with correcting bodily imbalances of intestinal flora, leading to problems including acid reflux for which doctors often prescribe harsh antibiotics. Natural lactic acid fermentation is one of the oldest and healthiest means of food preservation. It allows natural, beneficial bacteria to perform a fermentation process in which vegetables develop a pleasantly sour taste and remain rich in vitamins and minerals. Lactic acid fermentation is the only method of preservation that retains all the natural plant ingredients while improving the quality, taste and aroma. These beautifully crafted stoneware crock pots from Germany come complete with pot, lid, weighing stones, and instructions. To determine which size pot is best for you please look at the information in our FAQ section. Remember you can only fill a pot to 80% of its total capacity.
