This is good soup, and getting it from Amazon Grocery is much more convenient (and cheaper) than buying at the grocery store. I just wish there was more of a selection of microwavable soups that qualify for Amazon Prime shipping.

Progresso Italian Panko Style Breadcrumbs , 8-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 12) Review

I love these. I needed plain panko bread crumbs for a chicken recipe and these were all that they had. They were great. I make fat chicken strips, dip them in egg, then bread them with these and pan fry them. I make a dipping sauce of mayo and honey for them. My husband and stepson love them. In fact, my stepson requested that I make them for his birthday dinner.
I have had a hard time finding them in my supermarket all the time, so I ordered a case from Amazon. I even gave a couple of boxes to friends so they can see how great these are.

Panko is Japan\'s secret ingredient for crunch. A flaky bread crumb with a coarse texture and jagged edges, panko imparts a delicate crispiness perfect for frying or baking. For nearly a decade, panko has been popping up on the plates of fine dining restaurants, but for the home chef, panko has been difficult to find. Not anymore. Progresso Foods introduces its newest gourmet bread crumb. For a simple way to punch up the flavor and crunch of your Italian dishes, use Progresso Italian Style Panko.

I really do like the flavor of this soup. I don't find the flavor bland at all, but I also don't smoke or eat a lot of salt or sugar (things that can greatly affect one's ability to taste flavors). I don't add anything to this soup and enjoy it for lunch once or twice a week. The portion is just right. I wish it was available for subscribe & save.
HOWEVER, the lid sucks! I do spill a good tablespoon or so getting the lid to peel off and inevitably have to wash my hands and wipe off the counter. There's just no easy way around it that I can figure out. That is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. But the soup is so much better than it's competition that I still buy it regularly.

I love this kind of soup! Had it this afternoon for lunch. Progresso is an excellent brand and their soups are very good. The broth has alot of body and the flavor is very good, not mainly salty like so many canned soups.
This flavor has little chicken meatballs with little round macaroni shapes. The combo is delicious and its nice an chunky!

This is the good stuff! Once you've had the best, to Hello with the rest!!
I couldn't find this soup anywhere in the Fort Smith, Arkansas area. I stocked up everytime I went back home (300 mile trip) but it was hard to find there too. Only 1 store carried it.
Now I get it online, shipped to my door for the same price.

Average Reviews:

The Progresso Foods Division of General Mills Cereals (LLC) distributes this Chicken Noodle Soup to stores across the United States. This soup is convenient, it's quick, and it comes in its own individual microwavable container (so no other dishes are required; well....except a spoon).
And best of all -- Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup is absolutely delicious! It's certainly one of the tastiest noodle soups I've ever eaten. I haven't tried any of the other soups in the "microwavable bowl" Progresso line (and there are several others), but I definitely keep coming back for more of the Chicken Noodle product. It's a little on the expensive side, but the flavor and microwavable convenience are things that make these Progresso bowls worth the extra cost (IMO).
This soup provides an ample amount of tender chicken. And it's 100% "Roasted White Meat" too, and it's very good. I haven't yet run into a piece of gristle or fat when eating this product. They've done a great job of putting only premium-quality chicken pieces in this soup.
This soup also contains the normal other ingredients that usually accompany a Chicken Noodle soup -- Egg noodles (of course), carrots, celery, and a little bit of parsley.
For an extra taste boost (and to stretch the yummy contents of the bowl even further), try adding some diced potatoes to this soup. A few taters being tossed into the bowl make this soup taste even better (in my opinion anyway). I have to eat about a third of the soup first, though, before adding the potatoes, because the bowl is filled to the brim when it's first opened, so there's no room for a morsel of anything else until the level is reduced.
Progresso's soup bowls come packaged with a vented snap-on plastic lid, which should be placed back on the bowl while microwaving (after carefully removing the metal pull-top lid), in order to keep down the inevitable splatter that always occurs when chicken is heated at full microwave power.
The plastic lid can give a person fits, though, in that it can be difficult to initially remove. I have found that a small portion of the "Why Won't This Darn Thing Come Off?!" agony can be avoided by squeezing the bowl with one hand while prying up the lid with your other hand (in an inch-by-inch manner all the way around the bowl). Sometimes this method works for me anyway. Maybe it will for other people too.*
* = Throwing the container against the wall in order to loosen the lid is not recommended however; the bowl weighs almost one full pound before opening, so an angry toss across the room could very well result in some plaster damage which would certainly cost more to repair than the price of this food product. (Just a little kitchen/soup humor there.) ~wink~
Each 15.25-ounce Progresso container holds 2 individual servings (per the product's nutrition label anyway). But, let's face facts, whenever one of these official nutrition labels claims something makes two servings, it realistically means: "Almost Everybody Who Eats This Is Gonna Gobble Down This Whole Package". :)
That's the case here. While the serving size, per the label, is listed as "1 cup" (240 grams), it's quite easy to wolf down the entire bowl in one sitting. I'm guessing that most people who partake in this product feel the same way.
But, even when the serving size listed on the label is doubled, this Progresso soup still yields only a moderate amount of total fat and calories. Per the listed stats, if you eat this whole bowl of soup, you'll be consuming a little less than 180 calories, and less than 4 total grams of fat (with less than 1 gram of that being saturated fat). Not bad at all.
So, if you want a good, quick meal that's not loaded with fat and other undesirable foodstuffs, pop a bowl of Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup into the microwave. And in about two minutes, you'll have lunch. (Assuming you can get the darn lid off the thing before your lunch hour is over.) :-)

Progresso Traditional Soup, Roasted Chicken with Garlic, 18.5-Ounce (Pack of 6) Review

Progresso Traditional Soup, Roasted Chicken with Garlic, 18.5-Ounce (Pack of 6)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This isn't the greatest Progresso soup I've had. It does have a huge amount of solid ingredients in it, which is great. Unfortunately the broth and the flavor are not as strong as I would have liked given the fact that it's supposed to be "roasted chicken with garlic." The garlic is what I was really hoping for, but it wasn't a very discernible flavor in my bowl. As you can see from the photo on the can and the photo I uploaded, this soup comes with chicken, penne, green beans, corn, tomato, and carrots. The vegetables did come out a little on the mushy side when I had it, microwaved at 3 minutes in a 1000-watt unit (the directions recommend 2-4 minutes), while the penne was just a little firm but in better shape than the veggies. The chicken doesn't look incredibly appetizing (it looks like it's been sitting in some broth in a can, frankly), but it tasted fine and the texture was normal. Overall it was a decent-tasting soup and it did its job of filling me up; you gotta love Progresso and the ridiculous amount of food they can fit into these cans. The broth did leave an unpleasantly-firm ring of color around the bowl as I continued eating. Nothing that wasn't easy to wash off, but just...you know...that's what you're eating, is all.
Not a bad soup, but not a great one. You could do better with Progresso than this one.

Progresso Soup, Chicken & Wild Rice, 15.25-Ounce Microwavable Bowls (Pack of 6) Review

Progresso Soup, Chicken and Wild Rice, 15.25-Ounce Microwavable Bowls (Pack of 6)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Progresso makes an excellent soup and this chicken and wild rice soup with vegetables in a microwavable bowl is no exception. The soup is delicious and overall fairly healthy for you.
I like that the soup provides a good deal of chicken and both the rice and the vegetables taste fresh. The broth is also very tasty. Progresso makes a higher quality chicken soup than most other brands because they include more chicken in their chicken and wild rice soups.
One look at the ingredients shows us a few more positives: There are no trans fats and the soup is very low in fat. It is also comparatively low in cholesterol. However, it also contains sodium (900 mg!!!) so if you need to watch your salt intake, consider this before buying this product.
The top lid can be tough to take off and even then you have to handle the bowl very carefully to avoid spilling the soup. The soup is filled up to the brim of the bowl; and that makes it very tough not to spill at least a little! The top lid is actually very clunky and it doesn't really help enough when it's on top of the bowl inside the microwave oven, either. The cover doesn't completely cover the soup bowl in the microwave and some soup may well spill inside the microwave. And you DO need a solid surface on which you can open this container otherwise you are almost certain to have a spill (possibly for the second time) because the soup bowl is filled completely.
Overall, the soup itself is excellent. The packaging, on the other hand, is nothing special. The cover lid is cumbersome to remove and inside the microwave soup can spill out through the cover. The cost of the packaging makes the soup more expensive to buy. The packaging needs to be changed; perhaps Progresso could make a slightly higher bowl so that the soup won't easily spill out when you remove the plastic lid.
I highly recommend this for people who love chicken soup with wild rice and vegetables as long as they don't need to worry about sodium in their diets. If you are bothered by the packaging, however, then try another brand. Five stars for the actual soup combine with three stars for the packaging to make this a four star review.

Progresso Reduced Sodium Soup, Chicken Gumbo, 18.5-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)

Progresso's chicken gumbo soup doesn't taste all that great when it comes out of the microwave (or off the stove, if that's your way), but it tastes pretty good. It has white meat chicken, kidney beans, okra, rice, celery, carrot, tomato, and red bell pepper in it, as you can see from the picture on the can. Check the picture I uploaded to see what the soup *actually* looks like in the bowl. The chicken was pretty firm and just right, in my bowl. The gumbo taste isn't bad. You won't feel like you're in Louisiana or Memphis while you're eating it (unless you're actually IN Louisiana or Memphis), but it has the distinctive gumbo taste and is really quite good compared to some of Progresso's other soups. My biggest complaint with this soup is that the green vegetables came out mushy, as they tend to with Progresso soups, I've found. The celery and okra were good, just very soft and mushy, which isn't really what I wanted. It did a pretty good job of filling me up, though, as they pack a whole lot into that can as always. Overall a good soup that I wouldn't mind buying more of if I see it on the shelves sometime.

Progresso Traditional Soup, Chicken Noodle, 19-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)

I've made homemade chicken soup, starting from scratch, from the creature that scratches and pecks and smells not-good, that odious ex-dinosaur, a live chicken. They are a pain in the thing that needs fiber bars FiberPlus Antioxidant Bars, Dark Chocolate Almond, 5-Count Bars (Pack of 12), and now I prefer this delicious alternative. This tasty Progresso soup is great, especially if you lack time to boil a chicken. Simply add a dash of thyme and rosemary to achieve a homemade flavor. But beware, the cans may implode on shipment, due to the cheaper style of thin metal that dents more easily, and pull-tops that may pop open. You just don't want your soup to arrive battered, dented, opened, and soggy due to poor can design and the normal bumps of shipment/transport, you want to eat it. Enjoy.

Progresso World Recipes Soup, Tortilla y Pollo (Chicken Tortilla), 18.5-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12) Review

Progresso World Recipes Soup, Tortilla y Pollo (Chicken Tortilla), 18.5-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)
Average Reviews:

As someone who eats soup almost every night during the fall and winter, I was pleased to see our local grocer carrying several of the new Progresso World Recipes Soup. Unfortunately, the two varieties I have tried have been a real disappointment. Like the Black Bean Jalapenos, the Tortilla y Pollo's seasoning is heavy on the chili powder and not much else. Although a bit milder than the Black Bean Jalapenos, the Tortilla soup's broth is really little different in taste or consistency.
There is little in the way of meat or vegetables in this particular soup which caused me to rate the product as deserving only two stars. The can I opened had about six pieces of chicken, each measuring about 3/4" X 1/4" X 1/4"; a handful of black beans, a few corn kernals, and a piece or two of pepper. I found this soup to be a significant departure from Progresso's usual quality ingredients and flavor combinations.
In producing this soup, Progresso has committed a common error - assuming the flavors of Mexico and Tex-Mex foods are limited to chili powder; in the case of the Tortilla soup, there were not even pieces of jalapeno pepper thrown in to lend "authenticity" to the product. I suggest Progresso review "Los Barrios Family Cookbook: Tex-Mex Recipes from the Heart of San Antonio" by Diana Barrios Trevino for the true flavors of Tex-Mex cooking. If attempting to produce a soup which reflects only Mexico's flavors, then Rick Bayless' "Authentic Mexican: 20th Anniversary Edition: Regional Cooking from the Heart of Mexico" would be an excellent resource for Progresso to use.
If you are looking for a soup that combines interesting layers of flavor and multiple ingredients, you would do well to look elsewhere. This soup reflects neither the flavors of Tex-Mex cooking or Mexican cooking. If Progresso's other World Recipes Soups are as disappointing as the two I have already sampled, I may be changing my brand loyalty when it comes to soup.

Short of making homemade soup, this is as good a soup as you can hope for out of the can. The broth is wonderful to sip on and has just the right amount of chili powder and cumin to make it truly enjoyable. As typical with all canned soups, there is nowhere near enough meat in it, but that aside, this is a top-notch soup! And by the way, the new Weight Watchers Points Plus calculates to almost 2 points per serving, or 4 points for the whole can.

I don't like starchy, salty, and thick soups (too much starch actually makes me hungry). This particular variety (roasted chicken and vegetable) fits the bill. It is sparse on the noodle, with only 4 g of sugar per can (I have never eaten half a can of soup, so, all values are for the entire can). While still high, the sodium for the can is 920 mg: much less then in a "regular" soup. The satisfying taste belies the 140 calories and only 2 g of fat! The liquid is light, but there is lots to chew on in the bowl: many chunks of meat and firm veggies make this a meal, rather then a snack. The ring on top of the can makes it easy to open. You can tuck a can in your purse and take it along to the office for a quick lunch. So far, so good.
The only downside is the price. Even though I ordered the soup thru the Subscribe and Save programme, I paid for the dozen more then $6 over the price in the local mass retailer. It is not worth it, even with the covenience of free shipping. I will continue to buy the soup, just not on-line. Make sure to do your price research, but eaither way do give this variety a try. I'm sure you will not be dissapointed!

I have told any number of people when I can't find something I immediately go to Amazon and voila there it is and most times at the best price also! With this particular item had it in California where it was readily available here on East coast not at all. Found it once and never again and since it was super market item asked for it to be ordered only to be told if it's not in the wharehouse we don't open 'new' orders.
Just on a lark checked here and here it is. Ordered a case.
Love it best canned soup I ever tasted-why because it parallels the taste of the homemade cream of turkey soup my mom used to make. What a find!
