(More customer reviews)Thick and hearty, this soup is loaded with turkey, vegetables, and chunks of "crust" that *could* be sticky or gummy, but aren't. I'm not sure how they did it, but the "crust" bits really do taste like a good pot pie crust that's been broken up and mixed into the soup.
That said, this is NOT low-cal, and may not work for some diets. While the can indicates 2 servings, they would be VERY small servings. I usually consume the entire can. The damage: 400 cals, 16g total fat, 3g of it saturated fat, 1600mg sodium, 21g carb, 8g fiber, 22g protein (this is from the Campbell's website). That's 9 points if you're on Weight Watchers. Still, paired with a nice salad topped with fat-free or low-fat dressing, this would be a good and filling meal.
Sometimes, I find I have to "doctor" prepared soups to give them enough flavor; not so with this one. The only thing I add is a little freshly ground coarse pepper.
I keep this on hand for those days when I'm just too tired to do more than open a can and heat something in the microwave. Once in awhile, it's a wonderful alternative.

The texture is firm and, unlike canned tuna, there is actually tuna in this pouch. A 7-oz pouch of tuna has more tuna than two 6-ounce cans (which are about half water or oil). I highly recommend you try this.

(More customer reviews)I love these. I needed plain panko bread crumbs for a chicken recipe and these were all that they had. They were great. I make fat chicken strips, dip them in egg, then bread them with these and pan fry them. I make a dipping sauce of mayo and honey for them. My husband and stepson love them. In fact, my stepson requested that I make them for his birthday dinner.
I have had a hard time finding them in my supermarket all the time, so I ordered a case from Amazon. I even gave a couple of boxes to friends so they can see how great these are.

(More customer reviews)Are Zatarain's products a taste of New Orleans? I'm no chef and I have no idea. In general, they are plenty spicy and make a nice departure from blander family fare like Hamburger Helper (whose recipes rarely include veggies).
Being a confirmed spice wuss, however, I have to modify the recipe somewhat. You can eat this stuff without adding meat (or soy meat), but I would guess that would taste terrible. In addition to the regular recipe (which requires butter or margarine), I brown and add Jimmy Dean ground sausage with sage, plus some cooked chicken.
To alleviate the spiciness somewhat, I cut the recipe with some Boil-in-a-Bag whole grain brown rice (which painlessly adds some dietary fiber to the meal). If you like veggies, add some of those (I like to put some extra sliced red bell pepper -- adds color!).
What's great about this is you can keep all the ingredients in your pantry except the protein, which you can keep frozen or canned, so you always have this meal ready to go. It's cheap and it's quick and it's filling. Plus, you can make a big batch and stick it in the fridge to eat later, since it reheats well and still tastes good (mayber better), unlike Hamburger Helper meals, which are basically inedible if you don't eat them fresh (I don't mind HH, but let's recognize its limitations).
