(More customer reviews)This is an easy way to use up leftover meats such as sausage and chicken. I can't get anyone in my family to eat leftover chicken except perhaps a chicken breast sliced up and put on top of a salad once in a while. I discovered Tony Chachere's Creole Gumbo Dinner Mix and it was a perfect solution to using up leftover meats and vegetables.
The base has rice, veggies, and seasonings all in one packet. I add in any leftover veggies and cut up the leftover meats along with some water and have gumbo in about thirty minutes.
The next day it tastes even better!
My only complaint is that the gumbo is somewhat underseasoned for my tastes. I like to add some hot sauce but served as is even kids can eat this.
