While they might seem pricey, you get what you pay for- We feel the value is fair for the quality of the product. We'd rather feed quality raw foods to keep her healthy- because health is priceless... Stella and Chewy's understands the importance of a raw diet that is easy to handle and dispense... these little freeze dried steaks make AWESOME treats if broken into pieces, as well as a nice easy dinner if served whole. Terrific for traveling, convenient, really nutritious, and - most importantly- Abi loves them... no turned up nose EVER when we hand her a Stella and Chewy's steak!

The standard over processed stuff you find in the stores, even the higher end "natural" brands don't even come close to this. This food is nothing but the real deal. When you put the water into it, it actually smells like the items in it. There is no need for extra oils etc. I have four dogs who start barking as soon as the water goes into it and it soaks. They can't wait to eat now! I am going to try all the various flavors. It took about three weeks for their systems to adjust but now they seem totally fine and have no issues. If you get worried about their stools, just wait. You need to introduce this food gradually and you will be rewarded with dogs that seem to have a lot more energy.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this product quite some time ago for my older cat - who initially wouldn't touch it. Not dry, not wet - just turned up his nose. I gave up and put it in a cupboard and forgot about it....till I got a new kitten. My new kitty eats raw chicken as a treat; one night he was howling for some and I didn't have enough to share (I was making it for my own dinner!) and I remember this stuff. Pulled it out of the cupboard, broke it up, added water and he went nuts. Won't even touch his other food at this point - love these things. Could put the whole bag away if I let him....and funnily enough, my older cat, after watching the kitten happily scarf away, has finally decided he likes them too. The increase in his activity level and general wellbeing after just a week of eating these is amazing. I strongly recommend this product - you just have to give your kitty time to get used to it as it is a different smell and taste then they've probably ever eaten.

(More customer reviews)For the first few years we've had our German Shepherd we fed her Honest Kitchen mixed with Canidae. She was a healthy weight, sleek with a shiny coat. However, I hate to admit that I complained to my husband about the cost so he switched her to Newman's Own and Alpo. Within 6 months she's overweight and has horrendous ear problems. Horrendous! She walks crooked because her head is tilted, and continually she presses her ear against our hands to massage the base of the ear. The smell is noxious and whines or yelps out when it obviously pains her. The vet kept giving us otic washes, but never questioned the source of the chronic ear inflammation. A friend put me in touch with a breeder and the breeder immediately asked about her food. She said that Honest Kitchen is a FANTASTIC food choice for dogs if you're not going to feed them a raw diet, and that her ear problems are likely a direct result of her changed diet. So we're back to Honest Kitchen...and the cost is definitely worth it to have a healthy, happy dog!

Surprisingly, "dried" doesn't always mean lack of moisture, as these are some juicy morsels that keep my pet performing tricks for treats until I give out. Each one is a generous portion, even for my baby who's a pretty big boy, so I always slice them before feeding. It's also great to aid those sometimes finicky eaters, as an occasional sliced topper for meals. The package may seem small, but a little goes a long way.

(More customer reviews)I have a 14-month-old active Border Collie in good health. I was feeding her a quality wheat-free dry kibble but she did not always warm to the dry stuff. She loves the raw chicken food! (The cat loves it too and crowds into the dog's bowl at meal time.) I mix the raw with the dry kibble to stretch it a little farther. I noticed almost immediately after starting on the raw food my dog was more calm and receptive to training. (She is a rescue and was never trained before I adopted her.) At the same time her energy level is up, her coat has a greater shine and she sleeps better at night.
The Paw Natural has a good basic ingredient list. If you can't or don't want to assemble your own raw food, this is a great way to go. I would have tried the Steve's Real Food brand raw food (because my mother has been using it for years with her Border Collies) but it is not available locally. The Paw Natural is less expensive and with Amazon free shipping is a great deal. I live in Miami, Florida and the first package of 12 rolls arrived via 2nd-day UPS shipping from Kentucky with the dry ice completely evaporated but the rolls still frozen rock hard, despite the Miami heat.
Now, if I can only keep the cat out of this stuff.
