(More customer reviews)My German Sheperd will not eat the frozen raw patties no matter what brand I try, but he eats all the Stella and Chewy's freeze dried with no hesitation. I buy in bulk to save money and give him 6-9 freeze dried patties per day. It has really helped his ear problems since I've incorporated this into his diet. He no longer needs ear meds or cleaners and he has been staying symptom free. I have tried so many different frozen paties -- different brands different proteins. He had no interest in the frozen stuff no matter what tricks I tried, but there has never been a problem with getting him to eat the Stella and Chewy's freeze dried. He especially likes the Duck Duck Goose. My cats like it too. (I emailed the company. All of their products are for both dogs and cats.)
I like the organic ingrediants, the high meat content, that it's pathogen free (safe)and mostly that my dog can get a raw meal with those good enzymes each day now. It's a complete and balanced food,not just a supplement, like some other freeze dried. It's in his daily grain free diet now that also includes Orijen and Nature's Variety Instinct kibbles and Instinct canned.

While they might seem pricey, you get what you pay for- We feel the value is fair for the quality of the product. We'd rather feed quality raw foods to keep her healthy- because health is priceless... Stella and Chewy's understands the importance of a raw diet that is easy to handle and dispense... these little freeze dried steaks make AWESOME treats if broken into pieces, as well as a nice easy dinner if served whole. Terrific for traveling, convenient, really nutritious, and - most importantly- Abi loves them... no turned up nose EVER when we hand her a Stella and Chewy's steak!

(More customer reviews)My dog is on a totally raw diet, which clearly presents challenges during travel.
During a recent trip to Florida I took along a few bags of Stella and Chewy's steaks in lamb, beef and duck flavors.
While you can feed the food dry, I opted to add a little water and rehydrate them. While my dog had never eaten S&C food, he immediately took a liking to it, finished everything on his plate, and asked for more.
IMO the real measure of how good a food is lies in what comes *out* of the dog, and this food totally agreed with his digestive system. His stools were just as perfect eating S&C steaks as they were eating raw food.
I will definitely keep Stella and Chewy's steaks on hand for those times when feeding raw food is impractical or impossible.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this product quite some time ago for my older cat - who initially wouldn't touch it. Not dry, not wet - just turned up his nose. I gave up and put it in a cupboard and forgot about it....till I got a new kitten. My new kitty eats raw chicken as a treat; one night he was howling for some and I didn't have enough to share (I was making it for my own dinner!) and I remember this stuff. Pulled it out of the cupboard, broke it up, added water and he went nuts. Won't even touch his other food at this point - love these things. Could put the whole bag away if I let him....and funnily enough, my older cat, after watching the kitten happily scarf away, has finally decided he likes them too. The increase in his activity level and general wellbeing after just a week of eating these is amazing. I strongly recommend this product - you just have to give your kitty time to get used to it as it is a different smell and taste then they've probably ever eaten.

Surprisingly, "dried" doesn't always mean lack of moisture, as these are some juicy morsels that keep my pet performing tricks for treats until I give out. Each one is a generous portion, even for my baby who's a pretty big boy, so I always slice them before feeding. It's also great to aid those sometimes finicky eaters, as an occasional sliced topper for meals. The package may seem small, but a little goes a long way.

Fresh Is Best's freeze-dried treats enter the preparation process frozen, then are allowed to dry at low temperatures stretched out over a period of days. This process allows for maximum nutrient retention of the raw product. Many so-called freeze-dried treats are processed quickly in a day or less at temperatures exceeding 180 degrees Fahrenheit, effectively cooking the product. This defeats the purpose of freeze-drying, as enzymes and other essential nutrients begin to deteriorate at 118 degrees Fahrenheit.

(More customer reviews)Who knew dog food could be this delicious, this nutritious, this fun to serve? How can you go wrong with a product named "Stella & Chewy's" -- the name alone makes you want to hug the package.
But dogs can't read. So the real test came when I opened the package and popped out the dry, puck-sized wafer and put it in front of Madeleine, our 4.5 lb Papillon. Madeleine gobbled it down like she hadn't had a thing to eat in months. Sold.
What's in the wafers? Freeze-dried, RAW farm raised chicken with no imitation anything. It's also CERTIFIED safe raw and pathogen free food.
Do I trust those words? In today's FDA-scammed market, they aren't what they used to be. And yet, the whole package just seems to ooze with clues this company is ethical, responsible, progressive, and aware of the potential damage "ordinary" dog food brings to the table. I just have a feeling this company knows more about perfecting the domestic dog diet than I do.
This stuff is "Made in Wisconsin" according to the emblem on the front, but there's French writing all over the place. That's because Stella & Chewys' LLC is exporting their gourmet dog food to France, complying with French law by pointing out that it is indeed "Fabrique aux Etats-Unis" and it is "Nourriture pour chiens".
Given the exchange rate and the shipping costs, by the time it reaches the Left Bank, it must cost a bundle. And worth every Franc.
Botttom line: I think these people at Stella & Chewy's care about the same things I care about. That may be irrelevant in the business world. Profits are hard enough to come by these days.
But they aren't cutting any corners in Chewy's Chicken Dinner. Because it's a healthy blend of this, that and the other thing, it's even healthier than, say, pure Chicken or Steak right off the dinner table. This has fruits and vegetables mixed in (organic blueberries, apples, carrots, squash, beets, broccoli, cranberries and pumpkin seeds). That's important for a happy, healthy dog. No wonder Madeleine is hooked.
