(More customer reviews)I bought this soup because I have used Knorr products for years and have found them to be of high quality. I got this on a warehouse deal, so it was especially reasonable. First let me say that I decided (in my great wisdom) to fix it in the crockpot. It turned out wonderfully--but you have to keep it on low and you might need a bit more water in it. I have never eaten chicken tortilla soup and thought it would be, well, soupy. This was full of dehydrated chicken that plumped up perfectly delicious, wonderful veggies and spiced just right--not too spicy and not too salty. The only thing you should know here is that IT IS THICK. There is no "broth" in the sense of a soup...it is more...well..gelatinous isn't exactly the word, but if you've ever eaten Hot and Sour soup at a Chinese restaurant, you will recognize the viscosity. This chicken tortilla soup NEEDS to be this thick because you are meant to top it off with diced avocado, sour cream, shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, sliced black olives, tortilla strips...you get the picture. It is hearty, it is delicious, it is very versatile, and it does just fine in the crockpot. One packet (you get two) makes a gallon of soup and you can freeze it just fine (if you are lucky to have any left.) Delish!
