I discovered this product at a local natural foods store when I had to make soup for a large group of Seventh-day Adventists (who are mostly vegetarian). When the soup was made, I could not tell the difference between it and the way I usually make the soup with regular chicken broth. Neither could my husband (who is HIGHLY meat substitute-averse), and so we were hooked.
I have not bought chicken broth in a can or carton since. I buy this instead and keep it in a airtight container in the pantry. It is much more economical (for me, at the local health store's price) than buying regular broth: one 16oz pouch of this powder makes about 5.5 quarts of broth.
I also like that you can make as little as 1/4 cup of broth at a time, so there is not any waste as there would be if you had to make it a cup at a time. So if, say, you have a recipe that calls for 3.5 cups of broth, there is not any need to discard a leftover 1/2 cup of broth.
I now use nothing else in my soups, and they are indiscernible from the way I used to make them with regular broth. HIGHLY recommended.
