(More customer reviews)Despite the many comments online that Tuna Tetrazzini is gone the truth is it's not discontinued, it's simply harder to find. Go to your bigger chain grocers (my Ralph's always has it in stock and frequently has 10/$10 sales) or Super Wal-Mart. Basically any store that normally has a wide selection of Helper flavors. Your smaller grocery chains, Target, Walgreens, etc will not have it. They only
want to carry the Creamy Pasta and Creamy Broccoli varieties for some reason. Why this is the case makes no sense. When I was growing up tetrazzini was the favorite flavor in our house and you could always find it at the store. Betty Crocker has been making some baffling changes to the Helper line like refusing to put microwave directions on the box (check online if you need them), making flavors harder to find, and reducing the amount of noodles in certain varieties. If you really can't find Tetrazzini, go with Tuna Melt, the other good TH flavor. The others are just not good.

Bumble Bee Tuna Salad Kits - 9/3.5oz Review

(More customer reviews)I initially purchased a few varieties of the Bumble Bee Salad snack kits to take out deer hunting with me. I was looking for something easy to carry, didn't take up much room, was tasty, and would last for awhile without spoilage.
The kit comes with a 3 ounce can of tuna salad, 6 crackers, and a small plastic paddle to spoon the salad on the crackers. The tuna is in a metal can with a foil lid and the crackers are in a small cellophane (foil looking) pouch. The little plastic piece is just floating around in there.
After being carried and tossed around for a few weeks, I tore open a pack. The crackers did not hold up too well to the abuse and were mostly a stack of pieces and crumbs. The cardboard was splitting open allowing dirt to get inside, but at least the little plastic thing was still in there.
The taste of the salad was actually quite good. I did not think it had an overwhelming fishy smell which could be beneficial if you are eating it in close quarters to others who might not like fish. There is more than enough salad for the crackers which is a nice surprise as most snacks seem to make you ration the spread.
If you are on a diet, this meager snack is definitely not worth the 300 calories. If you are looking for something portable to take on the road, hiking, fishing, hunting, or a snack to send to a soldier in the field, this is a handy, self contained snack. If the packaging was a bit more durable to protect the crackers, I would say this would be pretty close to the perfect field snack.

(More customer reviews)130 calories, 0 carb, 14g protein, 2g saturated fat (6g healthy fats), 30mg cholesterol. high in omega-3s, free of any preservatives or fillers. if healthy foods are what you're after and you're not afraid of deep sea fish, this tuna is a very good choice!
if flavor and texture are what you're after, on the other hand... this tuna is still a great choice! this is the only olive-oil packed tuna i've tried so far, and i've liked it so much i've stayed put (i've heard good things about progresso's, which is similarly priced, and some brands that are out of my price range-- frankly, i just can't afford to fall in love with a $32 can of tuna...)
the first thing you'll notice on opening a can of this tuna is that the contents smell *good* -- not rankly fishy, not oily, not acrid or stale. it's yellowfin, not albacore, and the flesh is pink and comes in thick, meaty layers, not watery bits and pieces the way some tunas often are packed. the texture is succulent-- moist without being watery and rich without being greasy. the flavor is good, too-- the tuna itself has a very satisfying meatiness to it, fine tuna flavor heightened with a bit of salt, and the olive oil gives a little green sweetness at the same time. it's the only tuna i've felt compelled to describe as "beautiful" right out of the can... also great in casseroles, on canapes, in tuna salad sandwiches, etc. it has a robust flavor that stands well on its own and also performs well alongside other ingredients.
of course it's a good idea to keep an eye on the amount of fish you consume, particularly tuna, which has been documented as containing high levels of heavy metals in several studies. look up guidelines suggested by the Seafood Choices Alliance and the Environment Defense organization if you're unsure of what is generally regarded as safe for someone of your age and gender. That said, when you do consume tuna, it should be GOOD tuna. this is the canned tuna that i buy for myself, and i DO find it to be GOOD! i think you will, as well.

(More customer reviews)The tuna is not quite as white as it appears on the package, but it is still very, very light compared to canned tuna. The tuna is moist, doesn't have a harsh fishy smell and is delicious. The healthy selections tuna is not overpowering and makes great tuna salad with a nice texture. I have purchased this over and over again and will continue to do so.

(More customer reviews)Unless you're a health nut, tuna in olive oil is almost always preferable to that in water. And Genova is the best of the normally priced ones. (there are some super-expensive imported brands in a jar, but they cost as much as fresh tuna) For a quick meal, I like to open a can over a salad mix, complete with the oil, then add some fresh lemon juice, salt and pepper and that's it! A quick, delicious healthy meal.

(More customer reviews)This a very good light tuna with a mild tuna flavor. It's moist and mixes into food well like tuna and noodles or tuna salad. There isn't an unpleasant fishy smell and it's nice that you don't need to drain it like you do with canned tuna. I recommend it.

(More customer reviews)I purchased a case of this product for my summer backpacking trips. The packets are just the right size for trail eating. Snacks, soups, etc... 3 ounces seems to be just about right for one meal. The only thing I don't like about this product is the added preservatives and enhancers. I believe food should be as natural as possible. That quibble aside, I recommend these small packets for the backpacker looking to add a small amount of meat to their meals and reduce weight in their pack.
