(More customer reviews)This is one of the best soups Eating Right makes, the Andouille sausage is spicy but not too hot and is wonderfully lean, vegetables are delicious and there's plenty of rice... but a little less okra than I like in a good gumbo (probably because not everyone likes this unloved, misunderstood vegetable as I do).
One of the best things is it's not greasy or full of bad filler or junk, plenty of nice chicken chunks too. Give this one a try when Amazon.com gets it back in stock because it's much better than most canned soups on the market and has a home made taste I truly love and could nearly live on! I've compared it to Campbell's Chunky Grilled Chicken & Sausage Gumbo out of desperation being as I couldn't order this right now, and there is none unless you prefer their commercial taste and rubbery spice-less Andouille. If you are on a heart smart diet, Eating Right Chicken Gumbo is a winner.
Please hurry Amazon.com, my stock has become dangerously low!!!
UPDATE: Called Libby only to find out they mysteriously discontinued the best canned gumbo on the market. Much like everything anymore if it's good it vanishes off shelves with no explanation or warning so there is nearly nothing left a person can count on using. I've lost use of so many products like this it's disheartening. All I can do now is hope they'll reconsider... and bring it back with no changes to the recipe or downsizing.
