(More customer reviews)Be warned, the chicken flavor has bright red coloring mixed in with the basted flavor. I gave this bone to my sheltie (white paws, white chin & chest fur) on a blanket to keep the dye off the carpet. I looked over at her a few minutes later to see how she was doing, and she certainly did love the chicken flavor, she was chewing with gusto.
*However*, she looked like a murderer who had just messily hacked someone to death. Seriously, and it only took a few minutes for her to look like this because her wet slobber caused the dye coloring to run. Bold red coloring all over her paws, up her front legs, and all over her long chest fur, along with a little red staining the fur on the sides of her mouth. It even stained the fur between her foot pads because of the way she holds the bone in her paws, and if I didn't have dark brown carpet, that red dye would've been tracked all over as I led her into the kitchen for cleanup. I promptly wiped her down with a lot of baby wipes and got most of it off, except for some faint red areas. A day later, you could barely tell. *whew*, thank goodness. I had to laugh at the sight of her.... but you probably wouldn't laugh if you had light colored carpet.
So, because of stupid stupid coloring that companies use on dog products even though my dog certainly doesn't care what color her rawhide bone is, that's why I've knocked 2 stars off. Really, for MY dog, I'd give it one star only, but I suppose this rawhide bone will be just fine for folks who have black dogs who eat their rawhide bones outside, far far away from any light colored carpet.
I'll be sticking with either the natural flavor with no dye added, or the lamb & rice flavor, as it only has a very pale coloring added to the flavoring.
